Vehicle Detail

1966 SUZUKI X6 T20 SUPER SIX "HUSTLER" ORIGINAL & RUNNING! These were quite the 'sport bike' back in the day, but don't take my word for it - there is a lot of info about them on the internet. The 1965 Suzuki X6 Hustler also called the T20 Super Six Capacity: 247cc Power Output: 29 bhp/ 7.500rpm. Weight: 143 kg (316 lbs) Top Speed: 145 kph (90 mph)! When Suzuki introduced the X6 in 1965 it caused an immediate stir, especially among lovers of light-weight high-performance engines. The small 247cc air-cooled two-stroke engine was capable of almost 90mph and the motorcycle was suprisingly sophisticated. The goal was to get 100 hp per one liter cylinder volyme, that is 25 hp from a 250 cc engine. Suzuki engineers acchieved this goal and even better. Among the features of interest on this model was unusual separation of the oil pump instead of the typical oil/gasoline premix system. The Hustler was extremely popular and, at the hight of production, Suzuki produced over 5000 machines per month. Totally 35.500 T20/T21 was sold worldwide 1965-1967. Features Six-speed gearbox * 20.3 cm twin-leading-shoe front brake * Separate oil pump (not the usual premix) * Externally sprung telescopic forks * Light alloy barrels with cast-iron liner * Kickstarter on the left T20 Data Length 76.8 inch (1.95 m) * Width 30.1 inch (0.765 m) * Height 40.6 inch (1.03 m) * Engine Air cooled 2-stroke twin * Bore and stroke 54mm x 54mm (2.1 x 2.1 in.) * Displacement 247cc (15.1 cu in.) * Compression ratio 7.3 : 1 * Carburettors Mikuni VM 24 SH (x2) * Carburettor float level 0.98 inch (25.0mm) * Carburettor idle mixture screw Screw out approx 1.75 turns * Maximum power 29 bhp @ 7500rpm * Maximum speed 90 mph * Acceleration Standing 1/4 mile in 15.1s * Braking distance 39.4 foot @ 30mph * Maximum torque 20.3 ft-lb @ 7000rpm * Maximum rev limit 8000rpm * Gearbox 6-speed constant mesh * Overall top gear ratio 6.171 : 1 * mph/revs in 6th 100 mph/ 8800rpm * Clutch Wet, 12 plate This is a 45 year old, mostly unmolested bike with 7,412 original miles! It does have some surface rust here and there, (mostly on the shocks) but, it's not a rust bucket like a lot of those older bikes! Seat was professionally recovered (excellent job). Starts and runs. Smokes a little. Drives, brakes and shifts good. Fuel tank has the usual rust inside, but not rotted or scaling. I have installed in-line fuel filters as a precaution to keep the two carbs clean and running smoothly. I inspected the carburetors this season. The copper floats, and internal carb parts were in great shape and required only a light cleaning. Needs a battery if you want the lights to work, but bike will start and run without it. Odometer and RPM gauges work. A GREAT restoration project with a little TLC! It still has the original valve stem caps on the tires, gas cap, logos and chrome tank side-covers (how cool is that?!) Paint looks all original except for the rear fender, which looks like someone has painted it with a brush. The fuel tank is in great shape with no dents. It does have some surface rust where the tank meets the seat but is definitely worth restoring! Interesting engine guard/crash shield, I have never seen another with one. Not sure if it is original equipment for this bike, but it looks good on it! PLEASE READ If you want it shipped, then you'll need to coordinate everything with your shipper. I will not deliver. Bike is located in Brookline, New hampshire, 03033. I describe my items the best I can. If I have left out any important details in my auction, or if you have any questions, please let me know and I will add to the description. Thank you for looking. GOD BLESS OUR SOLDIERS!!!On Sep-09-11 at 08:31:22 PDT, seller added the following information: It has been pointed out by others that this paint color is not an original color choice for this bike. I can see no evidence of the bike being repainted so it must have been a professional job done a very, very long time ago. I connected a battery to the bike last night and the tail light does work (see picts), the headlight did work but blew out the day we made the Youtube video (new bulb can be bought on ebay for around $25-30). The horn works also. THANKS AGAIN FOR LOOKING!
