1974 BMW 2002Tii Fuel Injected Great running/driving car. Solid car! 50+ PHOTOS OF THIS CAR BELOW. Launched in 1971, the 2002 tii used the same, elegant bodyshell of its two-door relations. And although the shape was quite familiar by the mid-70s, it hadn't lost its appeal and still managed to look fresh. The slender roof pillars, large glass areas and overall dimensions gave an impression of light weight and athletic ability. And the looks weren't deceiving because the 2002 was nothing if not quick and light on its feet.The interior continued the theme with a low scuttle and an airy feel, despite the black plastic used for the dashboard. A standard tachometer backed up the theory that this was a proper driver's car. The grille was painted black and much of what would have been chrome on other cars was either painted or finished in stainless steel for a satin look, a style that was carried on in the early M3 and M5 models. Power came from a two-liter four-cylinder; a capacity that was considered at the time quite large for such a small car. Even today, two-liters seems a lot of engine for something with the 2002 body style's dimensions. Why buy this 2002tii? This is a great driving car! It does everything it was intended to do. It starts easily, holds the idle properly from when it's cold in the morning to when it's warmed up and on the road. It's shifts smooth and the 4 speed transmission feels great, (it doesn't pop out of gear or make noise). The clutch disk was replaced and flywheel resurfaced around 5 years ago. The suspension was rebuilt about 5 years ago (new ball joints, urethane bushing and new Bilsteins on all 4 corners). The battery has been relocated to the trunk and alternater upgraded to a 65 amp which is a plus if you decide to complete the AC system which is installed and wired but needs a compressor, dryer and hoses to complete. Overall the car is a joy to drive and feels very solid which indicates the car wasn't built from a basket or beat up and/or neglected it's entire life. The prior owner built the car to be a nice driver that would be respectable at any show and shine and the car is representitive of that today. Cosmetically the 5-7 year old single stage urethane paint is starting to show some age mainly because it's been parked outside for the last couple years. A professional color sand and buff would do the car justice. It does have a few chips that were touched up which are hard to see unless you bring the car under flourescent lamps. The interior is very nice: The seats front and rear are in excellent condition as is the carpet set. Headliner and matching sunroof headliner are in good shape. The dash does have cracks which most do and I've tried to show them in the photos. The sheet metal is in great condition and there are no visible signs of rust on the car. The original color was most likely red hence the engine compartment is blacked out. Feel free to call me with any questions you may have prior to bidding on this car.
