1971 Suzuki TS250R Savage - Original Owner, 2827 miles. This auction is for a 1971 Suzuki TS250R Savage motorcycle, with 2827 miles on the odometer. I am the original owner, and I purchased the bike on July 23, 1971 (see photo of receipt). The bike is complete, as purchased, but I changed the front wheel from the original 19" to a 21". I also added a front fork brace, reduced the front sprocket size, and added knobby tires. I am including the original trials tires, 19" front wheel, front sprocket, and mirrors. I don't know if I still have all the 19" spokes, but I have many of them. The bike still has the original tool kit under the seat, and the original owners manual (a bit oily), plus a shop manual. I have the original warranty booklet and service card but, of course, they expired many years ago. I also have these spare parts: 2 new foot pegs 2 each new rubber for the shift lever and kick start pedal 2 new spark plugs 1 new clutch lever 1 new cable. Although the chrome looks shiny in the pictures, there is pitting. If complete restoration is your goal, I recommend re-plating the chrome. There is a dent on the left rear of the gas tank which can be seen in one of the photos. Two front wheel spokes are loose, and there is a scratch on the front fender. The gas tank was rusty inside, so I removed the rust and applied a sealer called Kreem. The seat has no rips or tears. The bike starts right up and runs well. All the electrical works, and I installed a new battery. The carburetor is clean, and the throttle grip springs closed as soon as it is let go. The bike is currently registered as non-op in California. I prefer pickup, but I am willing to help with arrangements for shipping as long as the buyer pays all charges. Both the CHP (who contacted DMV) and the ARB (Air Resources Board) told me that there is NO problem with registering this bike for on-road use. The bike has a federal safety sticker (on-road legal), and is exempt from emission standards due to its age. The current registration expires 3/26/2012. The registration requires a $71.00 payment to take the bike off non-op.
