Vehicle Detail

Hi and thanks for looking! Here for sale is my beloved 325iX, one of the cleanest drivers around. I'm sure many reading this ad are familiar with what makes the 'iX' so unusual, but for those who aren't, the 325iX is the first, and arguably best, all-wheel-drive BMW made. It is so special because it is so unique - it's slightly raised stance (for clearance during harsh winters), factory 15" BBS alloy wheels, and pronounced fender flares and side skirts differentiate it from a normal, two-wheel-drive BMW e30 3-series at first glance; under the surface however, it's AWD drivetrain is what makes the real difference. With only 2,647 iX's imported to North America from '88-91 (significantly less than even the e30 M3), and most being delivered in snowy (salty) areas, a clean 325iX is few and far between. This particular example of the model sports a 5-speed manual transmission, brilliantrot (brilliant red) paint, and a black leather M3 interior with houndstooth door cards. It has only 137,958 miles on it, and honestly looks great for a car of its age (please note that I am driving this car and it will have a few more miles on it when the new owner picks it up, but no more than a few hundred at most). I have owned the car for a bit over a year now, and have gone to great lengths to ensure that it is one of the most solid, reliable iX's out there. I have meticulously maintained the car, and have over $3000 in receipts (that will be given to the new owner) for maintenance & restoration items. A number of extras will be provided with the car, including four iX specific steel wheels with Continental ExtremeWinterContact snow tires with only one season of use. Along with an insane amount of maintenance, I have also worked to cosmetically improve the car, and it features a number of tasteful, desirable upgrades that work to enhance the experience of owning this old classic. Due to the overwhelming amount of work done to this car, I have provided a comprehensive list of maintenance and modification items for your perusal. Despite my efforts to be totally comprehensive in this list, I am sure I have forgotten a few points. If, after reading, you have questions before you bid, please do not hesitate to ask! Exterior -Hella H1 Euro 'Smiley' headlights -DDM Raptor 4500k 55w HID low-beam kit (great color, no purple ricer hue, just pure white light w/ a slight blue tint, similar in color to OEM luxury car HID's) -Sylvania Silverstar H1 hi-beam bulbs -Sylvania Silverstar H3 fog-light bulbs -'i' front lip -Euro license plate filler -e36 M3 convertible fixed antenna (looks great, replaces the ugly, failure-prone power antenna, and receives radio stations more clearly to boot!) -New kidney & headlight grilles -New BMW roundels front and rear -Replaced faded tail lights with great condition used units -"Shadow-lined" 325iX trunk badge -There is virtually NO rust on the body. The only rust area I know of is a small bubble on the sunroof - that's it. Zip, zilch, nada elsewhere to my knowledge (and I've been all over this thing) save for surface rust on the exhaust, cat heat shield, etc. -All body panels are original and carry the original VIN # stickers! Interior -Leather sport seats front & rear taken from a 1989 M3 (While some pics have a vinyl driver's seat shown, this was installed to save wear on the leather M3 seat. The car will be delivered with a leather M3 driver's seat) -Houndstooth door cards!!! -Brand new M-Tech II steering wheel -Keyless entry -New Febi-Bilstein weighted shift knob (heaviest OEM BMW shift knob available) -Blaupunkt Denver CD head unit with aux input for iPod, cell phone, or other MP3 player -Custom dual cup-holder in place of the ashtray w/ auxiliary power port (the Germans didn't get everything right...I can legally do only 65mph, and I want my coffee on the drive in to work!) -Rear Premium Sound speakers & package tray -Instrument cluster re-freshened with brushed aluminum gauge rings, Alpina tachometer strip & red needles -A/C blows ice cold! -HVAC operates properly on all fan & direction settings, including heat -6-button OBC with functioning outside temperature sensor-Working map-light mirror!-New synthetic leather shifter & e-brake boots (replacing the ugly rubber "accordion" boot)-Dashboard is totally crack-free!-Non-smoker Drivetrain -New timing belt -New water pump -New radiator -New radiator hoses -New fan clutch -New thermostat, seal & housing gasket-Valve adjustment -Cooling system flushed & re-filled with blue BMW antifreeze at a 50/50 ratio with distilled water -Oil changes every 3500 miles with Mobil1 15w-50 synthetic motor oil -Transfer case, transmission, and front & rear differential fluid changed w/ Redline fluids -Front driveshaft splines lubed with correct Dow Corning Molykote BR-2 Plus grease (essential to keeping the front driveshaft splines from stripping out of the transfer case) -6 new Bosch spark Plugs -New air filter -New fuel filter -New left rear wheel bearing -New throttle body intake elbow -New camshaft oil-spray pipe Chassis/Suspension -205/55R15 Yokohama S-Drive UHP summer tires with less than 6k miles (purchased March 2011) -185/70R14 Continental ExtremeWinterContact snow tires with one season of driving (~8k miles, purchased November 2010) -New BMW roundel center caps on all four wheels -Front suspension overhaul, including new: -strut assembly top-mounts ($$$) -sway bar bushings & end-links -M3 solid rubber control arm bushings -inner & outer tie rods -New heavy-duty aftermarket rear shock mounts (OEM mounts known to break frequently & cause clunking noises) Full Disclosure I am committed to making sure the buyer of this car is 100% confident with his or her purchase, and happy with it above all! I want to be totally honest, probably to a fault. As with any car of this vintage, there are a few issues that should be addressed in the future. -The right front strut insert I believe to be on its way out, and it clunks over harsh pavement imperfections. I have a brand new Koni "Yellow" adjustable strut insert that will be included in the sale. -The instrument cluster "check" light flashes on start-up. As soon as you press the 'check' button it stops. I am not 100% sure what is causing this, however I do know that a few bulbs were removed from the check panel at some point in the car's history. I will also include a new check panel with vehicle purchase. -While this car has no accident history, at some point in time the driver's side of the car was re-painted. It matches the rest of the paint well, but some subtle signs of the re-paint exist if you look very closely. The car shows no sign of accident damage, and all body panels carry the vehicle's VIN # stickers. The car does have a few dings here and there, commensurate with its age and mileage. Nothing serious, just wanted to put it out there. -Front speakers are blown. I will include 2 new 5.25" speakers with vehicle purchase. -One of the muffler hangers recently disappeared, and you can hear the exhaust bang around over extremely rough roads, or very sharp right hand turns. During 95% of driving you can't tell a thing. I'd fix it, but the reason I'm selling this thing is time. I just don't have it to lavish on my baby anymore. -There is a circular crack slightly larger than a quarter in the windshield. It passed PA state inspection this way as it does not spread to the edges. I would not hesitate to drive this car to California tomorrow without any special preparation. Again, these are things that all cars of this age battle with from time to time, and I do believe that many sellers tend to leave stuff like this out when advertising a car (I've been burned before - bad. You won't be). There will be no surprises or stories on this car - I have accurately represented it to my full ability. Why I'm Selling Well, I'm getting married in a couple months. I have three cars, and all of them are "toys" to various degrees. I just don't have the time or money anymore to keep up with all three, so I'm downsizing, and getting something a bit more wife friendly (read: newer & "nice", at least by her standards). I am absolutely confident that this is one of the best iX's on the market available at any price. It passed Pennsylvania state safety & emissions inspections this past winter with flying colors - I just registered it in Virginia this month (before I decided to sell it) as I am moving back there shortly, but have not had a chance to get it down there for a safety inspection yet. With all the work I have performed on it, I'm confident it will pass anywhere, regardless of how stringent. If you want the Ultimate (all-weather) Driving Machine, look no further. Thanks! I am happy to work with you to get the car shipped, or I can also pick you up at the Pittsburgh International Airport if you prefer to fly in & drive it home.
