Vehicle Detail

This is a GREAT condition 1992 Mercedes 300TE wagon. Here's the deal- I just bought this from a man here in town that was selling it, as he was moving out of town. I have had several Mercedes and love the old ones, especially the wagons. I was very impressed with the interior and bought it on the spot. We already have a Volvo SUV, a Mercedes convertible and a Hybrid...so a fourth vehicle was not very welcomed by my wife. My thought was to have it as an extra vehicle, to save mileage on the others. I got it this week and took it to the Mercedes expert here in town. I knew it was leaking some transmission fluid and a little bit of coolant. I thought I could learn how to repair most of these myself, but quickly learned it's beyond my repair knowledge. There is a leak in the transmission and also a small leak in the radiator. Both are relatively easy fixes for someone with the mechanical skills. They also said the head gasket will be due down the line. However, the car drives great. Shifts smooth and drives like a typical Mercedes. In fact, my wife was interested in selling her Volvo and just keeping this one. But I just don't have the experience to work on them. So, here's where we are: The GOOD: -Interior is GREAT -Sunroof works perfectly -Leather is in GREAT shape -No cracks in the dash (which is very common) -Has a Viper alarm with keyless entry -Has the Third row seat in perfect condition -Has been serviced with synthetic oil Issues that will need to be addressed soon: -Transmission seal -Radiator leak addressed -AC will need to be recharged. Owner said he's done in the past with the refill kits. -Will need new tires soon -4-Matic light is on. Mechanic said that's common on the older ones. However, 4-Matic is not an advantage in this area, so I would have just had disconnected. -Owner said a few years ago, he misplaced the face for the Kenwood radio. (Has one of those with the deatchable face). However, you can find those on Ebay for $25. I had not ordered yet. -Front wiper works sporatically. I looked on Ebay and was planning to replace myself for around $50. Again, if I knew how to repair some of the mechanical things, I would have kept the car. The interior sold it for me and the other piddly items were things I could take care of for minor costs. I wanted to be completely candid about the things that were needed. If you have any specific questions, just let me know and I will try to find out. These old wagons are always in demand- folks just love them and I can see why. I hope this fits your needs and that you can enjoy it! Thanks for looking! I am located about 20 mins outside Nashville.
