For sale is my beloved '74 2002 "Betty" - what started out as an idea for a daily driver and quickly became an obsession! Unfortunately the reason for the sale is that Uncle Sam has decided that my service is no longer required here in Florida and are transferring the family and I to a location that makes having three vehicles a real pain in the tush. Betty was purchased from a private owner in Orlando, January 2008. I am not sure of the history of the car before my procurement, however it was in the best shape of the 9 I tested (which is saying a lot). This has been a fantastic car to commute to work in (~50mi/day 2-3 times per week) and a real hoot around town. Although she has a roll-bar, all upgrades/modifications done are in great taste and not completed in haste without respect to such a cult/classic car (the bar across the driver/passenger doors can be removed for ease of entry/exit - all the benefits of the roll-bar without the penalty of being intrusive). The engine starts easily, idles smoothly and pulls in all RPMs. The upgraded 5-speed allows for spirited driving in town and relaxed cruising at any legal speeds on the highways/interstates. I've taken this car all across Florida without any issue or hiccups...she's in terrific shape for a 'classic.' The car has been garaged ever since coming into our possession. ***Betty is not without fault - she has a small amount of rust on her located on the hood, drivers door sill and spare tire well (please see images - better descriptions of the images at the flickr link below). The body has approximately 180k on it, all original paint, glass, carpet, etc...however 90% the mechanical parts on the car have been updated/replaced. I was going to repaint the car but never got around to it (ran out of time - repainting and repairing the body was going to be my winter project). If you're looking for a full-up restoration car, I'd recommend against this one...however if you are looking for a very fun, attractive and drivable car, this one might be for you. Everything works on the car minus the following: odometer (stopped working earlier this year - a common problem and easy fix from what I understand), and the fan blower motor (have a replacement, just not installed). You can view additional images of Betty at http://www.flickr.com/photos/29437631@N08/sets/72157627111995601. Any PPI done will be at the expense of the buyer. Shipping: Buyer is responsible for all shipping and transportation costs/arrangements. Good luck with the bidding. Cheers! 20 Aug 2011 - this is a re-listing of an auction that was won on 6 Aug. The winner of the auction failed to communicate with me (in any form), even though I sent him several emails and left a multiple phone messages (on top of those eBay automatically generates upon winning the auction and/or reminding the buyer of payment due). It was as if the winner fell off of the face of the earth...nothing. I feel that I went above and beyond by allowing the buyer ample time (two weeks) to make good on winning the auction and by doing so have put myself in an uncomfortable position of having to re-list the car. Please feel free to contact me (via "ask a question" tab on this page) and I'll answer your questions as soon as I can get to them. Cheers!bill
