Vehicle Detail
Up for auction today is a 1961 Chev Corvair Monza 110 4 speed. The car sports an older amateur restoration, performed in the early 1990's. It is showing some blemishes, but overall is in beautiful condition. I am selling this car for my Step-Mother. She needs to title it into her name still, but it does have a clear title. My dad is not well, and she has decided to sell her little pretty. The good: 100% rust free body, the whole interior, glass, fuctionality of all components, tires, trim, and mechanics are in great condition. The tires have excellent tread remaining. The ignition was converted to electronic, the generator was upgraded to an alternator, and the old problematic mechanical fuel pump has been abandoned in favor of an electric. The interior is nearly flawless. The seats, headliner, door panels, dash, and carpeting are still as new or nearly new. The clutch was replaced this past winter. The car drives well with no noises, shakes, rattles, etc. It drives very smoothly for a 50+ year old car. The cap, rotor, wires, and plugs have approximately 100 miles on them. During the restoration, a pop-up sunroof was installed. The brakes work well, and even without power steering, it is very easy to drive. Included is a spare headlight bezel and more of the vinyl used in the interior. The Bad: The paint is showing its 20 years. It has some places where the clearcoat has faded, and the green is peeling and showing the original red in a few inconspicuous spots. Please see the pictures. It has hardly been driven for a decade, and could use a carburetor tuning. It runs pretty well, but could use some time and TLC. The original door handles were removed during the restoration, and '80s style GM lift handles were installed. Kind of a cool idea, but I would have preferred the bulletproof pushbutton handles the car came with. The doors show under the paint where plates were riveted to cover the old handle holes. The car has a couple of times acted like its running out of gas, then left alone for awhile, it will fire right up. The fuel pump may need to be relocated nearer to the tank, they work better as pushers than pullers. The radio wont come on. It may need a starter solenoid some time in the near future, because sometimes you have to turn the key three or four times before she'll crank. In short, if the car was put on the road and used regularly, I think it would be a good thing for it. It is a nice little driver that gets lots of looks and compliments. Its no race car, but cruising 55 or 60 isnt hard. Shipping is up to the buyer, but I will assist however I can. The buy it now price is very reasonable, and requires immediate payment. Please note that I have had some bad luck with people who like to play games like bidding and not paying and then unregistering. So because of childish fun at my expense, if you have a feedback score of less than 10, or are a new member, you must contact me or I will cancel your bid and block you from future bidding. The buy it now option requires immediate payment through PayPal. For any questions, please call Luke at 505-320-three-four-nine-eight. Thanks for looking, and good luck.
