Vehicle Detail

If you are looking for a Mustang Body to drop a motor in and start driving, please click out of this auction because this car is not what you need. If you have lots of time/money and are looking for a rather unique kinda oddball car to restore, please read on. I am offering for sale one 1968 Ford Mustang coupe body with Factory DELUXE bench seat. Body code 65D and was limited to only 849 units made out of the 317,423 mustangs built in 68. As you can see from the pics the car is still pretty much original but neglected condition. It was optioned as confirmed by the Marti report with 289 2v motor, C-4 auto trans, 2.79 rear end, Black vinyl roof, Power disc brakes, Power steering, Selectaire A/C, REAR WINDOW DEFOGGER (RARE!!!), Interior decor group (Wood grain dash, door grills, overhead console,... ), Tinted glass (nice Carlite uncracked windshield), Deluxe seat belts, Front seat headrest, and LH remote mirror. Former owner had aspirations of doing a full ground up restoration under a shade tree and a blue tarp. He removed and junked the motor and trans with plans to update with newer 5.0/AOD driveline. One day to take apart and 10 years to not put it back together. He also did buy several new parts like Gas Tank, radiator, shroud, and front rotors (about $500). I would best describe the overall condition of the body as NEEDS TLC. For those unfamiliar with that restoration term, it decodes as Needs Tons of Loot and Cash. The body while basically strait, it has had issues with tin termites and rust worms in this moist southern climate. Good shock towers, strait and decent frame rails, Doors close tight and not much battery acid damage are some if its strong points. Lite hit on drivers quarter (repaired by Leonardo Da Bondo) and wrinkle on drivers front apron are only physical damage. Over all general sitting under a tree for 10 years of rust damage should be expected thru out the rest of car. Cowls do leak so it will need tophats and floorpans. Roof has bad spots due to vinyl top (fixable and should not need roof section). Just about all of the exterior sheetmetal should plan on being replaced. In the long run it is cheaper to replace than repair with today's better repop parts. Most of the removed parts should be fairly inexpensive to replace. Interior will need full going thru. Bench seat has good frame but armrest is loose like most. Seat covers are available but are custom ordered. Wiring not cut up. Deluxe interior components like seat belts, overhead console, door grills, woodgrain trim, door pulls are still there. Missing switch to rear defogger (very rare southern option). Incorrect 65-66 8 inch rear end installed. Original motor long gone but do have most of front end of motor with PS and A/C set ups. Just about any 68-69 Ford 289/302 could be sourced as replacement. Clear title with good stamped numbers, data tag, window vin tag and body buck tag. Buyer must send $500 at end of auction and make arrangements to pick up or I can deliver for fuel/food/hotel money if not too far away. I would estimate restoration cost around $5000-$10000 depending on skill level. Estimated value when done $8000-$12000 depending on market. Options, condition, desirability, and rarity determine most of the worth of a car like mine. Condition is poor so that is why I have it priced at this level. It would be wise if you are going to invest some TLC into a car, make sure to get TLC out of a car when it is time to sell.
