Vehicle Detail
Up for grabs is this great 1960 Mk1 Austin / Morris Mini! BODY: New floors, cills and battery tray. The body is really solid but still needs minor body work to complete. The car really has minimal rust. The largest hole is about 1" by 1" in the passenger rear wheel well. The passenger door skin has been riveted on to a rmostly rust free door frame. The drivers door is solid. Front and rear sub frames are very solid. Rear subframe assembly has been rebuilt / painted and has all new wheel bearings, brake shoes and master cylinders. Boot lid is solid. Front end has been replaced with a one piece fiberglass front clip in excellent shape, fitted for ease of access. Floors still has all of the original Mk1 features, magic wand gearstick hole and floor start button (very rare). Shell could easily be returned back to original Mk1 specs with steel front panels! This a genuine LHD drive USA car. (Pedals were installed on the right as a trial) INTERIOR: It has a Plastic moulded dash board and some fiberglass racing bucket seats which require new pads and covering. I have 2 complete steering columns and wheels and the original speedo. Original heater is there along with original Windshield Wiper motor. Please note the shell had a sun roof which has been plated in. Original Mk1 fuel tank is included and upper section of the rear seat. ENGINE/TRANSMISSION: I do have an engine and transmission with the car. I know the engine block 998cc has been decked and bored. I does not have pistons or rods. I have a multitude of extra SU carbs, alloy inlet manifolds, cranks, cam shafts, radiator and flywheel etc. The head is 12G295 (best performance small bore head made for the mini) has also had machine work done but does not have valves. (see pics) I have 2 valve covers, one steel and one alloy. i have an original cast exhaust manifold and part of a tubular LCB manifold which requires a y pipe. BRAKES: Car has Cooper S 10" disc brake conversion on the front, rears are drum brakes fully rebuilt (see pics) WHEELS: This car has 4 very rare "Cosmic" aluminum wheels. One rim has some aluminum missing but could easily be TIG'ed then machined down. Wheels would require the centers repainting and the alloy faces re-polishing. These wheels are very rare. One Steel Wheel. GLASS: Brand new front and rear window with the rubber seals purchased from Mini Mania. I do not have any side glass for the car This is a genuine Mk1 mini and with a bit more work would make an excellent track day, vintage race, autocross car or be put back on the road. It would be a shame but it could be used as a parts car as its almost complete and has many rare Mk1 parts and features. i simply do not have time or the funds to complete it. I have a clear Texas Title and Tags for the car. I will consider parting this car out. If you want any part from it please email me with an offer for the part you want. This is a buyer collect auction Any questions please ask, thanks for looking and happy bidding!
