1975 BMW 3.0SI Runs and drives. Restore as you enjoy. 40+ Photos below on this 81K mile BMW BMW introduced these cars as a response to the Mercedes-Benz dominated large luxury car class and was very important in establishing BMW's reputation as a luxury sedan manufacturer. These cars were years ahead of their time as most BMW's are. In 1975 BMW introduced the 3.0Si fuel injected motor to the US lineup replacing the twin two-barrel Zenith carburetors used on the M30 motor since it's inception. The fully optioned 3.0Si was sold during the 1975 and 1976 model years. Why buy this BMW 3.0Si If you're looking for a nice solid 3.0Si to drive and enjoy while you're restoring it or simply looking for a great car to restore, your search is over. This is a very solid car to start with. The body is well above average with only a couple of very small rust spots in the usual places. The interior is original and although shows some wear and cracking in the leather, is testiment to the fact the car was not abused and more than likely has actual miles of 81,773. The dash is crack free which is amazing. This car must have spent most of it life covered or in an enclosed garage. I drove the car to our photo shoot spot and aside from the timing tensioner guides which make a little clatter, the car actually drives out quite nicely. It shifts good, brakes and tracks straight. The power windows operate (rears need lubed up), radio works, power driver mirror operates and even the clock was working (I don't know how well it keeps time). The trunk area is rust free and shock towers are in excellent shape. There is small rust spot on the trunk lid and on the rear quarter above the tail lamp. We replaced the valve cover gasket, throttle body gasket, water pump and thermostat and hoses, radiator cleaned and repaired, intake and exhaust manifold gaskets replaced.Please call me with any specific questions you may have.
