Vehicle Detail
I have here my 1989 Toyota 4Runner. The details are: Its a 2.4cyl, (22RE) 5 speed, (w56) 4 wheel drive with 208k miles on the body. The engine only has approx. 46k. on it. (re-manufactured long-block.) I purchased it last winter, being that I was driving 45min. to work, and I wanted something better on gas than my bronco. (24mpg, vs. 10mpg) Toyota wins! Not to mention its a hundred times better in the snow than the bronco. Just to make everyone aware, the truck does have a reconstructed title, only because a few years ago the previous owner hit a deer in the front end, and rather than perform the repairs, the insurance co. totaled it. The owner then used the money to fix it. There was no frame damage, and aside from the condenser being pushed in a bit, there are no obvious signs of the accident. Its served me well, but Ive since changed occupations, and am only driving a short distance to work now. So, I can afford to sell this, and get something a little more practical along the lines of a pickup. The Good: It runs decent. (I did a tune up with all genuine toyota parts when I first got it) It drives (And gets 20-25mpg doin it!) It starts It stops. PA inspected until Jan. Has brand new tires, wipers, brakes, cap/rotor/plugs/wires, front end is tight, alignment is spot on. Frame is in good condition. Has never been off-roaded, or used for anything other than normal transportation. The cap comes off! The Bad: It has rust bubbling out in the wheel wells. It has some cancer down along the rockers infront and behind the rear tires. Has some bearing whine in 3rd, and 5th gears. (does not affect driveability) Leaks oil from either the front crank seal, or the front of the pan, or the timing cover seal. Perhaps all 3? I just put oil in it, and let it mark its territory on the road infront of the house, instead of my driveway. Its not pretty, inside or out. But it gets you there, and back, and its kinda fun to drive. Ultimately, I'd prefer to trade this 4Runner for a 40's- '79 ford pickup. Thats what I actually wanted when I ended up purchasing this, but I went for fuel mileage instead. Now, mileage isn't a big deal, and I'd prefer to haul cargo, rather than passengers. Would like to have a 2wd, long bed, with manual transmission. Not too particular on engine size or type, but beggers cant be choosey. Something drivable and inspected would be nice... but I'm willing to consider offers depending on condition. Thanks for looking, and should you have any questions, or would like to see more pictures of any particular part, please feel free to contact me and I will gladly provide them.
