Vehicle Detail

*** To be updated shortly *** Honda Element up for sale! Elements don't come in too many versions, but for a 2006 this model was pretty much the top of the line. EX-P = all paint, instead of plastic fender panels (yuck!). Automatic with All Wheel Drive, alloy rims. Includes few extras my wife bought for me - genuine Honda front and rear floor mats plus a rear "trunk" cover, also genuine Honda. I think the mats and cover each ran a little over $200. No other modifications, no accidents, no body or paint work, all original glass. There are two minor blemishes to the body, a small dent on the driver's side rear door and a slight scratch on the right side door (see pictures, will post asap). The scratch is small and can probably be buffed out, but I figure I better mention it. Dealership oil changes every 10k with some non-dealer oil changes at 5k. Fresh oil change about a month ago. It's on its second set of tires - first set lasted 44k and as of my most recent oil change, the current set is legal but I would suggest that they are near the end of their safe life. A/C is cold. Passed MD emissions inspection this past May. CarFAX is clean, I'll see if I can make it available (?). Interior is clean, there are a few minor blemishes as would be expected for a used car. I will post pictures asap. I will make the car available for inspection tentatively on Friday 8/12 from 5-7pm and Sunday 8/14 from 4-6pm in the Baltimore area. If you wish to see the vehicle, you must let me know no later then 9am that day; otherwise, I may make other plans. I don't expect anyone to travel from afar to buy my car, but just in case, if you are serious enough to fly hear or take the train, please let me know and we can discuss ways to accomodate your interest. As for the details, the car offered strictly as-is, with no guaranties or warranties implied or expressed. Again, you are welcome to inspect the car, bring your mechanic if you like, please just don't win the bid then back out on it. The car currently has a bank lien on it. For payment, I will accept a cashier's check drafted upon a MD bank. You are responsible for tax, tags, title, shipping, insurance and all other fees. Maryland requires that I return the license plate; I will require that you have temp tags and proof of insurance for this vehicle before we complete the sale. I am still driving this vehicle, mileage not to exceed 90,500. Happy bidding! Updates: 1. For the picture of the right side door, please note that the painted lines in the parking lot are reflecting off the door, they are not scratches. I will try to take a better picture asap.On Aug-09-11 at 20:34:22 PDT, seller added the following information: UPDATE 8/9/2011: I PAID OFF THE BANK LOAN TODAY, so there is no more loan and there is no lien. This greatly simplifies the transaction. FYI, Maryland uses a two part title - the owner always keeps the original title, but in my case it states that there is a lien. Now that I have paid the bank, I have the second part, which shows the lien has been released. Also, I HAD THE VEHICLE INSPECTED TODAY AT A HONDA DEALERSHIP AND IT PASSED THE MD STATE SAFTEY INSPECTION. The winning bidder will need this inspection certificate to title/register the vehicle in Maryland. This is the same yellow certificate that you will see in the windshield of used cars for sale at dealerships. So you are guaranteed that it will pass MD State Safety Inspection, because it is already completed and it is transferable to you. I think it is valid for 60 days - I make absolutely promise beyond the current inspection should you for whatever reason let it expire. If you are registering in any state other than Maryland, I make no promise of passing inspection other than the state of MD. If you are registering in Maryland, you will probably also get VEIP emission inspection notice several months after you register. This is a different inspection and because it is several months after the transaction, I am not promising that the Element will pass that inspection. If the winning bidder wishes, I will provide a copy of the VEIP I passed in May 2011. To clarify several questions I have received, the amount you are bidding is the amount you are paying me for ownership of the vehicle. You are responsible for any and all other costs, including but not limited to taxes, title and registration fees - NONE OF THESE COSTS ARE INCLUDED IN THE BID AMOUNT. The amount I owed on the loan would not have affected the bid price, but now that there is no loan, it greatly simplifies the transaction. We fill out a bill of sale, we get it notarized, you hand me a cashier's check, I sign the title and give it to you, you own the vehicle. AS A TERM OF THIS SALE, YOU ARE REQUIRED TO COMPLETE A MARYLAND BILL OF SALE, MVA FORM VR-181, even if you are taking the vehicle to another state. Please find VR-181 on the web, it is a standard MD MVA form. FYI, It must be notarized by both parties. To clarify another question I received, if you wish to tow the vehicle and you use a tow truck or a trailer that has all four of the Element's wheels on the trailer, you will not have to have temp tags. You will have to show me that you have valid insurance for the towing vehicle. If you use a "tow dolly" that only carries the front two wheels, the vehicle being towed is considered "on the road" and it will have to have temp tags and insurance. Hope that helps! I have jury duty tomorrow so I won't be able to answer questions during the day, but I hope to post more pictures when I get home. On Aug-11-11 at 18:07:02 PDT, seller added the following information: UPDATE 8/11/11: I ADDED MORE PICTURES. Under the hood, there is a brand new battery. I had replaced the battery last winter with a really good one, but it wasn't an exact fit. This new battery is an exact fit and has a 36 month full replacement, 100 month limited (prorated after 36 months) warranty. Inside, notice the front and rear genuine Honda floor mats. There is a little wear on the driver's side mat, but since the mats were put in shortly after buying the car, the floor is in excellent shape. The rear mats look nearly new. Also, take note to the genuine Honda cargo cover in the rear, which I previously referred to as the "trunk" cover. There is some wear on the driver's side seat and some small white marks on the tailgate as shown in the photos. The spare tire has never been used. These photos are intended to illustrate the general conditions of the car, but you should inspect the car yourself before bidding, as offered above.
