My 74 TR6 has undergone a full frame-off restoration, completed in 2009, in which nearly every component has been refurbished or replaced. The actual mileage is not truely known as the original speedo had been replaced. But this car has been torn down to a bare chassis and completely reconstructed. Since completion, I have driven this car about 1500 miles including frequent highway trips at 65 mph. The engine has been machined and rebuilt with mild mods, the chassis has been refurbished and the body was taken down to bare metal before making repairs and repainting in the original white (Paint Code 19). The Delco alternator and New Main Wiring Harness provide reliable electricity and increased capacity. All 4 fenders, rockers, rear door posts, inner trunk walls and rear deck are brand new parts. The convertible top, carpet, interior panels and Burl dashboard are all new materials, with 1991 Miata Seats mounted on custom brackets to use the original mount points. The Momo steering was installed to accomodate my height of 6'1", but the original can bolt right back on. The front bumper is from 73 (no bumperettes), and the rear bumperettes have been removed to match. This TR6 runs strong, shifts well, makes frequent trips at 65 mph without trouble, has electrical power that Lucas never could deliver. Monza dual exhaust system has had mufflers replaced with turbo mufflers to eliminate drone, but provide increased flow. The transmission, differential, and rear hubs were in good condition, were cleaned up, received new seals and fluids, but did not require rebuilds. The Windshield and door windows are original with some minor scratches, but clear with no cracks. Every modification made, except the internal engine updates, were done in a way that allows original parts to be simply bolted back on, if desired. Included are some spares I had kept, such as a set of original seats that need to be recovered, red cooling fans, an original Steering wheel in good condition, a set of redlines (cracking) on original rims, solid original exhaust, plus a second transmission and differential. I have additional pictures and an extensive list, describing parts replaced and tasks performed during this restoration, which I can e-mail upon request. Some images appear to show rough or discolored edges on the body especially on doors and fenders. It seems to be something from my camera. The bodywork is absolutely clean, is in excellent condition with NO rough edges, no dents. no dings and no scratches. The paint shows and shines as if new. The seats appear gray in the pictures, (another poor picture) The seats are black cloth and match the interior. 2. The engine rebuild involved some mild performance mods. The crankshaft was machined .010, and all bearings, thrust washers, rings and seals were all replaced. The head was surfaced and valves seats ground and new springs, pushrods and valve guides. The block deck was machined a few thousanths to achieve 9.5-to-1 compression, installed a GoodParts GP2 Cam and lifters. The engine runs on pump gas with no pinging and has excellent power and torque from fairly low rpms. Installed an electric fuel pump and adjustable fuel pressure regulator. 3. The clutch kit and hydraulics are brand new, and the flywheel was resurfaced. 4. The tires on the car are new and in excellent condition with full tread.
