Vehicle Detail

Just as the title reads you are looking at a one owner 1965 Plymouth Barracuda bought new in Sacramento, CA, complete with it's original black and yellow license plates, and where it has resided it's entire life. I obtained the car about 6 weeks ago through the estate from the nephew/executor. The car was garage kept up until I purchased it. From what I was told the car was a daily driver until 1972 when the owner purchased a full size Chrysler as a second car. Being a house with only a small one car garage, the Barracuda remained stored in the garage while the new car was outside in the driveway. As it was more convenient to take what was outside, the Barracuda saw less use than the new car but was not left for dead. However, in spite of it's history, the car has seen definite wear and damage and will beneift from a full resotration as the pictures will show. The odometer shows having just turned 79,000 miles which I believe to be actual. It has a 225 slant 6 cylinder and a 3 speed automatic transmission. We pushed the car out of the garage when I went to pick it up because I wasn't sure how safe it would be to drive so I was planning on just towing it home. The nephew told me that it was started about 6 mos. prior. I checked everything over once it was on the driveway, the tires were a little low but the fluids were all up so I gave it a shot and, after a couple of attempts, it fired right up and sounded healthy so I drove it away. Other than new tires and some gas I have done nothing to the car. While it runs great it does have something going on with the transmission. I found that when I tried it on the freeway that evening it started to hesistate then I had shifting problems. The transmission wouldn't shift through all the gears without starting out in second gear. Then the problem seemed to resolve itself. I haven't driven the car very much but, for example, I drove it all day today after having new tires put on it and it has shifted just fine. Perhaps all that is needed is a basic service on the transmission or a vacuum modulator but it doesn't seem to need a major overhaul at this point. I have had no tranny fluid leak on my driveway while I have had it. I will mention at this time that, while having the new tires mounted, that 2 studs off the drivers side rear wheel snapped off. Neither the shop nor I knew that Chrysler used left handed studs and lugs nuts on some of their cars until it was too late. I tried to buy new left hand thread studs and lug nuts but could not find a store that sells them. So I bought 5 new right hand thread studs and lug nuts and I have replaced the broken studs. The additonal studs and lug nuts will be provided to complete the conversion to rt hand thread and, if the buyer needs me to do this before picking up the car, I'll make time to do it. The body has bondo in a few small area's, as well as, unrepaired damage seen in the photo's provided. However, all the trim is there and the glass is in very good shape, no bubbles or cracks. The weatherstripping around that rear windown seems to be holding tight. I took it through a car wash the night I got it and there were no signs of leaking. The floors and trunk are rust free and rock solid. Nothing has been modified on the car. It appears to have had a repaint at some point as there is some over spray on some of the trim. The color is either a very soft yellow or a creamy white. The interior is all orginal. There is a dent in the top of the inside drivers door that looks like it should pop out. This dent does not affect the rolling of the window or the shutting of the door as both doors shut nice and tight. The drivers seat is chewed up in the upper corner of the back rest and the carpet is faded and worn through on the drivers side floor board. Other than that, the interior is just about perfect, even the seat belts and hold down straps for the folding back seat are really clean. The chrome inside is like new, I couldn't find any pits in the chrome. The ashtrays do not seem to have been ever used. The cigarette lighter element looks brand new. Even the horn cap still looks new with no fading or cracking to the Valiant emblem. The paint on the dash is excellent. There is a panel next to perfect instrument cluster that looks like it would be a dash ashtray but is actually a block out plate that I assume is there in place of an ashtray since there is one in the console. The headliner and sun visors are perfect. Everything works on the car except for the dome light on the passenger side and the lens is missing. Probably just needs a new bulb and a lens. Minor repairs to the seat and drivers side armrest and new carpet throughout and the interior is finished. Please view the photo's in the photobucket link provided: http://s916.photobucket.com/albums/ad7/sacto59r/1965%20Barracuda/ The car is not registered into my name and the tags expire this month. I have the original pink slip and photo copies of the former owners death certificate and a court document granting executorship. I am told this is all I need to transfer ownership. I will provide a bill of sale as, I believe, a CA DMV Release of Liability was submitted. I have not attempted to transfer ownership. I honestly wish I could keep it but I have just purchased my dream car and I need to liquidate this and some other cars to pay off what I just bought. I will assist with transfer of ownership by providing further documentation if needed. I will also provide additional photo's on request of specific areas if not seen in the photo bucket file. The car is being sold "As is/where is". A $500.00 deposit is required within 48 hours of end of auction. I reserve the right to end the auction at anytime for any reason if the car has not yet met reserve. Please feel free to ask questions relevant to the car and its condition as I understand that making a large purchase like this needs to be done with absolute certainty. Questions pertaining to the reserve will not be answered. If the winning bidder needs to have the car shipped as opposed to picking it up in person, I recommend using www.123movers.com who will provide a list of quotes from different transport company's. I will store the car for a short time while waiting for a transport if needed. Thanks for looking. .
