Vehicle Detail
Please scroll down to bottom of listing for many more pictures, as well as detailed info regarding the car and its current condition. The car has functioning brakes, steering, electrical, etc. but is not driveable due to the cooling/overheating problem so this car will not be able to be driven home. I will be happy to supply more pictures and answer any questions, as well as schedule a time to come see the car. If the car doesn't sell and the best offer is too low, the car will be relisted so keep an eye out for it or save me as a "Favorite Seller" and you will be able to follow the auction! Be sure to look at the free History Report to confirm mileage and emissions testing results as of March 2008 (before vehicle was put on registered Non-Op). The car for sale is a 1982 RX-7 w/ exactly 83,617 miles and these are ORIGINAL miles verified by receipts and Carfax! The car was bought brand new in 1982 and after the original owner passed away, the car sat for ~15 years under a cover until his daughter was able to drive. During that time it was started regularly, maintained properly (have original receipts), etc. After I took possession of it in 2006 I used it as a backup car, also lending to the low miles shown. Please read entire ad and check out pics on photobucket before inquiring, as this car is not running at 100% which is why I am selling it for so cheap. This car would be a great candidate for a project car, as everything is completely stock and everything works great except for the engine which needs cooling work and possibly a rebuild, just not sure as I am not familiar with these engines unfortunately. If I had the time I would be using this myself for a 5.0L or LSX swap car to have fun with, but have other things to work on at the moment and need to get this out of the garage! With so few miles, the car is in pretty good shape for 30 years old, but the pictures can show the parts that need cleaning, touching up, replacing (such as the rear brake light cover), etc. It recently had rear wheel cylinders replaced, master cylinder replaced, and all new brake fluid pumped through the brake system. The trans kicks down properly, shifts great, and does not whine or make other noise; same goes for the rear transaxle as well. The whole car is completely stock and has not been modified at all. The car passed smog in 2008 just fine, which was the last time it was driven regularly. Title is clear and in my name only, no salvage or branded title at all. I even have the stock radio boxed up and will be included with the car, along with the ORIGINAL owner's manual and all receipts/invoices done. The only problem w/ the car powertrain-wise is that it does overheat and has a coolant leak somewhere that I cannot find. It could be driven a few miles but that may be pushing it, so it should be trailered home or fixed at a local shop or something like that. You are welcome to check out the car and see for yourself what may need to be done, as unfortunately I am not an expert in these cars at all. The engine does start up and run, but it is carbureted so it is harder to start when cold (not much of a prob here in So Cal), but there is a choke that helps keep RPM up. The idle speed may need to be adjusted as the RPMs start to drop too low, and sometimes may stall out. Again, I am not familiar with these cars so I can't say if it just needs a tuneup in that department, or if something more indepth is needed. Found that the water pump is damaged as the water pump pulley shaft has excessive play and needs to be replaced. Anyone rebuilding the motor would replace it anyway, but I still want to do my best to describe the car as best as I can, and give all the info that I would want to know were it being purchased by me. Thanks and please send any questions! Everything else with the car drivetrain-wise, as far as the transmission and rear end, is great and as it should be for the mileage, everything else is cosmetic on the inside or outside. Please feel free to contact me with any and all questions, and I will respond within 24 hours. The car is in Temecula, CA and is available to be seen nearly any time on the weekend, and during the week is possible as I do not work far from home and can meet on my lunch hour. I can also certainly take more pictures if you would like and time table would be around 24 hours at the most. Once car is won, will require $100 deposit to be made and rest of payment due within 7 days, not to include any paypal fees if that is the chosen method of payment. The shipping option available through eBay seems to be pretty cheap, so it may be a good start. Just be sure that any quotes you obtain specify that the car is not running, although it IS steerable and brakes do function normally, however the motor should not be run for more than a few seconds until the water pump issue is resolved. If you are arranging shipping just let me know what day and time the vehicle is being picked up and I will have the car cleaned up, secured, documents and extras inside the car, etc. ready to go! If Buy It Now is not used, I will still review and honor the highest second offer to let you take car if you want! Again, please contact me with any questions and thanks so much for looking at the car! If you have any further questions, please send me a message and if you would like to talk over the phone, just let me know and I will reply back with my cell phone number. Thank you!
