It was delivered to Hollister Dodge, one of Boulder, Colorado's oldest dealerships. This was the last year for the classic "COKE BOTTLE" body lines on the Dodge Charger. First purchased by a lady in the Denver area, the car was used for work until the "74" gas crunch. Traded in for a more economical vehicle, the Charger was spotted by its 2nd owner of nearby Estes Park, CO. He was thinking about a color change from the original Plum Crazy, when Mother Nature obliged him with a severe sand storm that blasted the passenger side down to the factory primer. He decided to sell the Charger in 1977, drove it to Las Vegas, anticipating a better price. He was able to sell it to a lady airman assigned to Nellis AFB. She was the third owner until her transfer to a different base forced her to sell the Charger in 1980. The next owner bought the Charger with intentions of a full restoration. However, after nearly a year, all that was done was to cruise around Las Vegas. He was persuaded to sell the Charger with a promise of doing the restoration by the new owner. In the fall of 1981, the new owner flatbedded his new toy to his home in PA. The Charger was treated to a complete drive- train overhaul and a fresh paint job of Tuxedo Black over a perfectly straight body. The Charger was pampered, but in his heart, he really wanted a four speed car, preferably a Cuda. Noticing an ad for a '70 Cuda, the two owners swapped cars. Both felt they got the better deal. This new owner completed the restoration with new carpet, trunkmat, carburetor, exhaust system and a complete detailing job. The Charger then ended up in Florida and that's when I purchased the car in March 2006 from a car collector in Florida. I have a lot of documentation & receipts for what has been done to the Charger. The car is in very good condition, looks good, runs good, and has no mechanical problems. It does not have a spare tire or wheel and the tic-toc tach dows not work. Remember, this car was originally a FC7 high impact color Plum Crazy Purple, which makes it all the more rare. Drive the car this way for a while as the Tuxedo Black paint really shines and looks great, or treat it to a restoration back to its original color. The car is 98% rust free, with minor bubbling under the vinyl roof as seen in the photo. Each of the doors have one spot the size of a nickel of slight bubbling under the paint, again I am just being honest in my description, as you really have to inspect to see these slight flaws. The original trunk pan has 2 pea size holes in it, due to the fuel tank isolator pad holding moisture. The rear quarters are absolutely solid along with the undercarriage and frame rails. The passenger side glass shows evidence of the sandstorm experienced by the 2nd owner, but visibility through it is good, again you really have to look to see it. The good things about this car far outweigh the minor flaws. This car can be driven anywhere in comfort as the A/C is cold and the car runs excellent. These big B-body cars are a dream to drive, and this one is no exception. The 383 V-8 runs strong, with no hesitations. The 727 transmission is smooth shifting, and the brakes are strong. This Charger makes its presence known with a formidable rumble from its twin chrome exhaust tips. Cruisin' to the oldies is fun with the factory 8 Track pumpin' out the tunes. Everywhere I take this car, its thumbs up, turnin' heads, and all smiles. This car just took 1st place at our local car show out of 8 Mopars in its class, some of them fresh restorations. Bid with confidence as this is an icon of American classic cars, and they are hard to find in this condition. I paid over $40,000 for this car at the market high. My sacrifice is your gain. Thanks for looking! According to "Old Cars Report Price" rating, I would rate my Charger a #2-, with a #1 being Excellent and #6 being a parts car. I am selling my Charger because I'm 70 years old and am downsizing my collection. For questions, call my cell # 507 227 0923.
