Vehicle Detail
I am not the original owner, and am not sure how many miles the vehicle has on it, but most of the mechanical has been replaced. I purchased it from my father-in-law who did the diesel conversion about 6 year ago. Approximately 150,000 miles (primarily highway) on a NEW high-rev 1.9 litre naturally aspirated diesel engine. I added an external B&M oil cooler which adds about an extra quart of capacity and keeps it running cool all day. Very clean with some minor surface rust. It has never been wrecked. I painted it below the side trim to create a 2 tone look. The transmission was rebuilt a few years ago by German Transaxle in Bend Oregon with an extra tall 4th gear. Can cruise at 70 at approximately 2600 RPM! I've religiously changed the transmission oil yearly with full synthetic. Both CVs and drive shafts were replaced 2 years ago. Both front strut inserts were replaced this past fall. Front has Audi 4000 rear springs for about a 1" lift, and rear has an extra leaf for the same lift. Upper strut tower brace. Race spec wheel studs all around. 20mm wheel spacers all around ad about 2 1/2 inches to the overall track. 2 sets of wheels - snowflakes (a bit run-out), and 4 steel wheels with studs (studs on 2 tires are pretty done, but still decent tread). Custom built rear bumper and hitch receiver. Way overbuilt! I used it to attach my rear bike rack. PIAA fog lights with a narrow horizontal beam for foul weather driving. Fiberglass shell on back is painted to match body. Brand new battery as of about a month ago. Interior is clean. I put in MK2 cloth seats so the seat height can be adjusted. The dash is in great condition with NO cracks. Diesel cluster installed when the truck was converted. Aftermarket stereo with CD player and iPhone/iPod dock and controls, plus hands-free talking through the stereo mic. Steering wheel is the leather GTI wheel. There is no headliner - was old and saggy, so I took it out. The vehicle drives great and gets around 39-42 mpg. The engine is strong and runs clean - not a smokey joker.
