Up for auction today is a 1976 Lincoln Continental Town Coupe - A Bicentennial car. The good: 460 V8, C6 trans. Mostly straight body, no serious rust, runs strong and drives smooth, Newer window motors, radiator and windsheild (only about 5,000 miles ago), engine runs well, Transmission shifts nice and smooth, besides the driver seat, the interior is in decent shape for a car of this age. Tires are decent. The bad: Transmission leaks fluid, almost a quart a week if driven daily. I think the pan gasket is what is leaking, because it does it running or not. Paint is in very poor shape. Drivers door hige pins are worn and need replaced. The car has been sitting for about three and a half years. This was my dads car, he owned it for nearly two decades, but he is not in the condition to be driving and I do not have the time to devote to it that it needs. Given some time and attention, it could be a pretty cool ride. The Town Coupes are kind of rare these days, and i still get into arguements with people who want to insist that if it is a two door, it must be a mark IV.
