Vehicle Detail
Very clean, stock, and unmodified SoCal/AZ based 1964 Ford Galaxie 500. This car was a labor of love for some retired gentlemen who teamed up to give it a cosmetic restoration some time ago. The work isn't perfect, but it's not bad either. This car is incredible raw material to take to the next level or enjoy as is. Other than a later model 302 with 25K miles on it which replaced the original 289 (a totally bolt-in swap because the engines are externally identical), the running gear is all original. That includes the desirable nine inch rear end and Toploader 3 Speed on the tree. This transmission could very easily be swapped out for a Toploader 4 Speed on the floor (this is also a bolt-in swap). Because of it's V-8 and manual transmission, combined with it being a non-PS/PB car (weight savings), you have an excellent piece of raw material to clone into a 427 Lightweight, 390 4 Speed, etc., should you choose. Even without power brakes and power steering, she steers and stops with very little effort and would make a great daily driver. Mechanically, this Galaxie 500 runs and drives extremely well. It starts right up, accelerates quickly, steers true and stops straight. The ride is very smooth with no squeaks or rattles. The body is also very straight, with no cancer anywhere and newer paint. It has had two small sections in each kick panel that were repaired at one time and that's it. The rear bumper has the typical 1964 Galaxie 500 rust (which doesn't affect the body at all). I recommend removing and replacing it with a fiberglass, body colored 427 Lightweight version. They are available inexpensively in the aftermarket. Wheels and Tires are 15 inch Eagle Alloys with 205/60-15's and they really make the car stand out. The interior is uncut, with a beautiful original dash. It has had older bench seat upholstery work and a newer headliner and carpet kit. The 1964 Galaxie 500 body style is recognized as the pinnacle of the 1959-1974 Galaxie/LTD series and this one is an extremely solid and honest example. It's ready to enjoy as she sits or to be fixed up to your preference. Many more pic's are available upon request. My name is Chris and I would be happy to answer your questions.
