I'm selling my '87 Mercedes 300 Diesel Wagon to help pay for my new '62 Mini Cooper Project! I bought the car from near Houston, Texas, so it has no rust at all, not even surface rust... This year model has the rare 6 cylinder turbo-diesel engine that I'm told was only used for 2 years in this, and the 300SDL models. It runs great, and starts fine in the winter. It sat outside all winter, and it started every time, but it was plugged in. It smokes a little when first started, then runs clear. It has been run with synthetic oil since new. The previous owner used Amsoil, and I am currently running Mobil 1. Transmission shifts smooth, and the front suspension was recently rebuilt with new ball joints and tie rod ends. The rear end has the usual clunk when shifting t light acceleration from the differential bushings being worn. I have new ones, but they haven't been installed yet. It drives fine though. The car averages around 30 mpg. The best I've gotten was around 37 with straight freeway at about 65. The paint is original, and has been baked from the Texas sun as shown in the pics. I think it's still presentable. The interior is in o.k. shape, the seats have some cracking, and the dashpad is cracked. The speedo stopped working early this year around 270k miles. It's probably around 280 now. This is a 3-seat model, the rear seat folds down flat in the rear. I would have no problem driving this anywhere with confidence. On Jul-25-11 at 05:58:20 PDT, seller added the following information: After driving the car yesterday, I wanted to add that the driver's door window switch doesn't work, and the outer door handle on that door doesn't open the door. The inside handle works fine. If I could figure out how to get the door panel off, I'm sure I could get it to work...if anyone knows how.
