Vehicle Detail

This is a one owner (for 40 years... he bought it brand new in 1971) 1971 Ford LTD Convertible. It was purchased new by an elderly gentleman who drove it less and less frequently until he passed away and it was then inherited by his son. This rare beauty is completely, totally, and thoroughly stock with 57320 original, one owner miles. The engine is the original 351 2V (I believe it's a Cleveland block) with an automatic transmission and it runs perfectly. In fact, the entire running gear is in particularly excellent condition. This car starts, runs, drives, turns, and stops just about perfectly. It's got that wonderful floaty ride of Detroit luxo-barges from years gone by. Yet it's very tight and rattle free. The only thing I've done is put new tires on it. It's very obvious this car was very well maintained and driven sparingly and primarily in nice weather. The interior is in outstanding condition; no tears, no flaws, no cracks, no stains, no nothing; just a completely stock interior with absolutely no modifications. Even the AM radio works great. The only things that don't work are the gas gauge and the analog clock. The automatic convertible top is in very good condition and the mechanism opens and closes easily. A boot with a small tear is included (it is stored in the trunk). The body is in very good condition with original paint and no accident history. Other than a small rust spot on only one inner fender well (see pics), the only downside is that the original owner used poorly matching touch up paint on scratches. The drivers side looks fine but the passenger side has quite a bit of it (see pics). My guess is that as he got older he did alright seeing what was going on on the drivers side but not as well on the passenger side, hence the scratches. All in all, this is a wonderfully original, barn find, museum piece, survivor type of car. It represents the best of Detroit before the era of big bumpers and pollution controls that robbed power. A car can be restored over and over but is only original once. This original beauty deserves to be in the hands of an owner that appreciates her for her patina and wants to keep it that way (just my opinion). My name is Chris and I would be happy to answer any of your questions. I can be reached at 435-669-1470. I'm located in the desert community of St. George, UT (100 miles north of Las Vegas). Good Luck and Good Bidding.
