The Deluxe-bodied Rancheros were finished in special two-tone paint schemes, this one in its factory red & white colors. Originally based on a full-size Ford platform, the Ranchero was introduced in 1957 and initially offered in two trim levels. It was built on an automobile assembly line and sold through Ford's truck department. This '65 Ranchero is a pleasure to show and drive. The 2nd generation Ford Ranchero was based on the smaller Falcon platform since 1960. In 1964 Ford's Ranchero showcased an extensive re-design. This new finned body carried through the 1965 model year. Under the hood is this strong running 289 c.i. V8. Always a 289 powered Ranchero, this example boasts simple yet effective modifications including a 4bbl. carburetor, aluminum Edelbrock intake and Motorsport valve covers. A Mallory Unilite distributor and coil provide the spark. Further inspection of the engine compartment will confirm clean and detailed original inner fenderwells, core support, and firewall steel. Exhaust gases are expelled through headers to free-flowing dual exhaust system that sounds excellent. The original fender stamping is in place as well. The door identification tag is in place, confirming this to be a Rancher Deluxe finished in red & white and originally ordered to Dallas, Texas. The doors and door undersides are solid. Open the door to 1965. The interior shows very well throughout. Red & white vinyl bucket seating is highlighted with white piping and accompanied by the vintage center console. Behind the seating a a spare tire/wheel. The dash displays the original gauge cluster as well as a column-mounted tachometer. The headliner and door panels have been restored to match the seating. The unique bed is in exceptional condition, protected with a rubber mat. This stance is courtesy of custom chromed 14-inch Pacer wheels wrapped in 195/75R14 whitewall radial tires. The undercarriage features restored and replaced suspension components that were painted and detailed. The engine is dressed with a chromed oil pan. The flooring and underbody is exceptionally solid throughout, indicative of a dry climate car.
