Vehicle Detail
1970 Roadrunner, #'s matching 383, #'s matching 4 speed, Air Grabber, Sublime, Bucket seat car with fender tag. This car was purchased from the original family over a year ago. It was purchased as a non running project. The car has the original engine and transmission and has some great options like the N96 hood, sublime paint and bucket seats. The car now runs but will take some more care to make it a driver (brakes, gas cap etc.) This car does shift through all 4 gears and reverse just fine. The main thing on this car is that it will need full quarters and trunk work which is not something I am able to do. This will be a great car for someone who is willing to invest the time in it. This car was purchased with sublime paint, then painted brown in the 80's and finally yellow. I will describe it to the best of my ability : Engine: Engine is a 383 and is the original block. Recently put in new battery, electronic iginition, distributor, plugs, plug wires, and carburetor. The car starts up immediately with no hesitation and idles fine. Gas tank was removed and flushed, new fuel sending unit installed. The engine is painted white so I am assuming it was removed and rebuilt sometime in the past. There is a loud exhaust leak coming from the drivers side header. The header gasket will need to be replaced. There is also an oil drip from the valve cover that leaks on the header so it will need a new gasket or just tightened. Engine has a high rise intake and aftermarket valve covers. Car is missing the beep beep horn. Transmission: Transmission is a 4 speed manual that is original to the car. I ran the transmission through all of the gears while the car was sitting on jack stands. All of them work fine including reverse. The shifter mechanism is sticky and will need to be lubricated or cleaned to work perfeclty. Air Grabber Hood: This hood is original to the car and has all of the components intact. The hood works perfect and activates with the flip of the switch. The door stays up even with the car turned off and closes when the switch is turned off. The hood door pins are not original but can be purchased online. Body: Top: The car orginally had a vinyl top, which was removed to see if there was rust underneath. The top looks great with two small rust holes on the drivers side pillar. All of the chrome for the windows that was removed comes with the car. Engine Bay: The engine bay does not appear to have any rust holes or issues. Floorpans: I ground the surface rust off of the floor pan to see what shape the floors are in. The drivers pan area under the gas/brake pedals has some small holes and should be patched/replaced. The passenger side front pan also has small holes near the front and should be replaced. The pan under the seats and the rear pans are solid. Quarters: This car has Home-Made lower quarters that were put in before replacement metal was readily available. The quarters were welded in and the bead was never ground off so it looks horrible. The home-made lowers are also rusting near the bottoms. To be safe I would say that full quarters would be needed. It appears that the upper half of the quarters are original and look fine, however the lowers should be looked at. Rear: The rear of the car was perfectly straight until last week I left the car in gear while I started it and it ran into the corner of my house. Not something I would recommend doing. The trunk lid will need to be replaced and the tail panel will need to be straightened. The rear bumper took most of the hit and wll come with the car but not sure if it's worth saving. The trunk lid still latches. Trunk: The trunk has holes and will need to be patched/replaced. Hood: The hood is nice and latches nicely. The owners installed hood pins which look fine but are not original to the car. Frame: The frame rails are solid and rust free. I would not have purchased the car myself if there was any frame issues and there isn't. Doors: The doors open and close but it wouldn't hurt to rebuild the hinges and adjust the latch mechanism. Fenders: The passenger fender has two dents in it that will need to be popped out. Grille: The grille is fairly nice but should be repainted, the chrome is decent but the headlight chrome is broken in two places. Interior: The interior of the car is fairly decent. The seats are all there and only the drivers seat is ripped on the bottom cushion. The seats will clean up nicely. The pistol grip shifter is original and has a cracked lense on top. The gauges are all intact, and most of the features work. The lights work throughout the car both inside and outside. The door panels look good but do have speaker cutouts. The original radio is missing. The glove box door does not latch. The headliner will need to be replaced. The seat belts are blue so I am guessing they are out of a different RR. Windows: All windows roll up and down. All glass looks decent with the exception of the passenger side window has a small chip out of the top of the glass. Wheels/Tires: The wheels are 15in cragar type wheels in the back and 14 in in the front. The tires will need to be replaced to be driver quality but hold air just fine. Video: Watch a video of the care here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VMutu96ja7c Please feel free to contact me to set up a time to see the car or ask questions.
