Vehicle Detail
Moving sale - Selling my 1967 Toyota FJ40 LandCruiser 4x4 - This FJ has been converted to Pontiac V8 power with an automatic transmission and power steering. She sports BF goodrich 33 x 12.5 tires that appear to have very few miles on them. ( I have put less than 200 on them personally) The truck was repainted some time ago - The paint looks good but does has the typical chips and cracks for an off road vehicle. You can see some areas where its bubbled as well. The interior was rhino lined (or something like that). The seats have been replaced/recovered in an attractive black and yellow pattern. It also has tilt wheel. The rear tailgate was converted to fold flat like a pickup truck and the front hood opens reverse. It has a custom air intake. The engine is a Pontiac 421 Large Journal V8 - I was told when I bought this that this was somewhat of a rare engine. I really dont know - What I can tell you is its alot of power for this FJ. I did test the 4 wheel drive and it does work. I was told the front winch works but I have never tried it - I cannot figure out how to get it turned on. Following the wiring it hooks up to what looks like a starter solenoid but it doesn't appear to have power run to it. The is NO TOP for this FJ and NO DOORS. True mileage is unknown. The speedo cluster does not function. There is a working aftermarket fuel level gauge, temp gauge and oil pressure gauge. I bought this FJ last June on ebay - I had it shipped in from Texas. When it arrived it had a few fluid leaks so I took it to a mechanic I knew. He said he would squeeze it in between jobs - well it was there for almost 6 months. During this time the wheel cylinders for the brakes developed a leak. I purchased all new wheel cylinders and the mechanic installed them. When I got the FJ back there was still some leaks from the transfer case and the brakes would not work right. I noticed a leak at the base of the master cylinder so I purchased a new master cylinder and replaced myself. The brakes work correctly but if the FJ sits for a while (more than an hour) the brake pedal falls to the floor and must be pumped back up - I am told I did not get all the air out when bleeding. I simply do not have the time to deal with this as I am moving in less than two weeks. The FJ is drivable for short trips but should be considered a project mechanically speaking. I also put a used carburetor on it as I wanted an electric choke ( I will include the edelbrock with manual choke it came with as well). It starts right up but the engine is now stumbling a bit - when the engine gets warm its hard to restart as well - I assume this is a timing or tuning issue or a combination there of. Just keeping it real so you know what you are looking at. I suggest you come and look for yourself or have an inspection performed. The FJ is being sold as is where is. I know I have spent a lot of time telling whats wrong - This FJ really is a cool truck - turns heads everywhere it goes. It just needs someone with mechanical ability to work out her kinks. I have set a reasonable reserve - (much less than I have in her) - She is currently in storage and can be viewed by appointment. Feel free to call with any questions - My cell number is area code six zero nine - 923 - 2959 - Thank you and good luck! Here are a ton of pictures and a video! On Jul-11-11 at 03:54:58 PDT, seller added the following information: I will consider trades - convertibles or Jeeps (wranglers preferred but CJ's would be considered) only - no projects please - I just don't have the time or patience for them or I would just keep this one. On Jul-16-11 at 09:40:32 PDT, seller added the following information: I will work with you on shipping any way I can - I just sold a few boats - one was shipped to the UAE the other to Novia Scotia - See my feedback - I worked will with buyers and did what I could accommodate the shippers - It seems like the best way was an ad on uship.com - also once again my phone number is six zero nine - 923-2959 - I have to spell out the beginning otherwise the spam bots get my number and call me about the "lets us help you sell the vehicle you are selling on ebay" drives me nutz. Thanks and good luck -
