Vehicle Detail
Selling my BMW which runs great and has had major repairs to engine, new tires, alternator, airconditioner. It was hit from behind, and the insurance company totalled the car :P. Since it was hit from behind, the engine is in tact and everything but the back of the car is in GREAT condition. It is working and I drove it back from the yard to my house, no problems. Because it is a '95 the high end costs of fixing in a shop in San Francisco was at a percentage that the insurance company had to total the car (by law there is a percentage of BlueBook value that forces them to salvage the title). I have evaluated all the issues and the car is indeed repairable. I hate the idea of them crunching it into a small block of steel so I bought it back so a clever and talented auto mechanic/body repair shop could make use of what is essentially a GREAT car. Condition: The car was in amazing shape before someone hit me from behind. I spent over 3K in past 6 months on new tires, replacing gaskets, all the pulleys, belts, new AC and a 3 day old alternator. Basically I thought I would have the car for many more years and put a lot of money into making the engine purr including an additional 2K over the last year and a half, totaling 5K! So the engine is like new and there are many many parts and work done. The frame, I am told, has only a minor ding and can be fixed easily. It is the trunk that sustained the majority of damage. See the pictures. Below is a list of all the repairs and costs associated Before the accident, here are the repairs I made: Car Expenses Alternator $ 350.00 - within one week prior to the accident Tires $ 174.61 (only 12,000 miles on 65,000 mile tires) Tires $ 186.90 (only 2,000 miles on 50,000 tires) Battery $ 151.90 Smog $ 69.00 - has 1 year left before next smog) Renew $ 1197.15 Redoing engine, pulleys, brakes, oil change (invested to have car for next 3-5 years) Renew $ 1144.51 New air conditioner, all new gaskets, belts etc. Repairs $1305.79 - Maintenance, new gaskets, other repairs Repairs $472.34 - Type 2 Inspection and associated maintenance_______________________Total $ 5053.20 I did these repairs in LA as the costs are about 1/2 the price as SF. I am tempted to repair the car down there and am getting an estimate to compare against what I can see the car for on EBay or Craigslist. Since I am not a mechanic, I am open to selling the car to the right person who can breath life into it - or take the parts and make use of what is essentially a car in great shape aside from the dings. It was in pristine condition. Now a salvage title. Features: See below for the list of repairs and upgrades. Other features are automatic transmission, sun roof, power windows/locks etc..license plate is 3SMU007! History: I purchased the vehicle about 11 years ago from the original owner who kept it in a garage and had only 35K miles on it. (Will consider bids that fall under the reserve.)
