Vehicle Detail
For sale is our 1999 Subaru Forester S model. This has been my wifes vehicle for the past 5 years and has performed flawlessly. The car has all the features you would expect on this model including Auto Transmission, Power Windows, Locks, AC, Cruise, Heated Front Seats. Factory Stereo system includes Radio and CD Player. The interior of the car is in very good condition, no rips or tears in seats, everything is quite clean. The exterior has some door dings in various locations, has a small dent in front of hood near LH headlight, and rust above the right rear wheel. I tried to show the exterior the best I could in the photos included with the ad. All 4 brakes including rotors were replaced within the last year, as well as rear struts, and a new windshield, which was cracked. As stated previously, this car has performed flawlessly for us, and we have always taken care if it is well. The car has never dripped or burned a drop of oil. All of this changed recently though. Please read in detail. My wife was driving into a parking lot and car began running terribly, check engine light came on and she immediately parked car. I had the car towed to our mechanic who was unable to evaluate the car for over a week due to his work schedule and planned vacation. During this time my wife needed a car for work, so we bought another. When mechanic was able to evaluate the car, he indicated that the engine had jumped time on one side due to a timing pulley freezing up. He stated the likely repairs needed would be a "timing kit" which includes belt, pulleys, etc. He also indicated that it is possible that some of the valves may have been bent, but would not be sure before actually getting into the job. Repair dollar estimate was not given. Engine will still run, though poorly, and mechanic suggested to not run at all until fixed. This being said, the car is being sold "As Is", and is not in driveable conditon until engine timing components are replaced. We decided to let her go since my wife has already purchased another vehicle. Buyer is responsible for vehicle pick-up.
