Vehicle Detail

We are sadly selling our very nice Jeep Grand Wagoneer. This is my wifes favorite vehicle however we are in the process of building a new house and if you follow Dave Ramsey, he says we must sell. We are actually selling two vehicles, the second will be my 78 Pontiac Trans Am (later). We bought this Jeep a little over a year ago and have done a lot of work to it. It actually was in very nice shape but it needed some light work up until two months ago when we had to rebuild the motor. This is one of the nicest red Grand Wagoneer's around. This is a rig you could jump in and drive anywhere you wanted to. This is my wifes SUV and I would make sure it was always in good shape as I would hate for her to break down in the South Dakota winters. This auction is for the serious collector and one who knows the rarity of a nice classic Grand Wagoneer. There are plenty out there for lower and will require extensive work to get to this vehicle condition. We just spent a little over 4k on the motor alone. If you ever have to have one rebuilt and rebuilt correctly, they are not cheap. I will start off by telling you a little about me. I have purchased several vehicles off of Ebay. I learned my lesson on the first vehicle I purchased. It had little detail and I did not ask any questions, just assuming it was as advertised. It was not and I lost big on that purchase. I strive to list a lot of detail in my listings and urge anyone who is about to make a big purchase to have a local mechanic take a look at our Jeep to verify its condition. It is just good practice. I will make the vehicle available to be viewed. I will also be available to do a walkaround on the phone if you so choose. Just email me and let me know and we can make it happen. This really is a very nice classic rig and I do hope you enjoy it. Please enjoy the auction. We are only selling because it would help when we build our house but we dont HAVE to sell and at this time will not go lower then the reserve price. I am also not interested in trades. This is a very nice 88 Jeep Grand Wagoneer. We purchased this and it was obvious it was restored at some point. It has high miles but does not show it. I will start with the exterior condition. The body panels are all straight except for one ding on the driver door. It is small and has been touched up but it is still there. All other panels are straight, line up nice and again there is no rust. This vehicle has been painted at some point and it shines very nice. There has been some touch ups to the paint from rock chips and it was done nicely. The paint is an 8 out of 10. Not show room condition as it is a daily driver but it is very nice. The doors all close nice and solid. The tailgate closes nice. The hood lines up good. The grill is in nice shape. Both bumpers are nice and have good chrome with no dents. It has the original spotlights still. It even has the rubber cowl on the bottom of the front bumper. The headlight buckets are nice. All exterior rubber on the bumpers are nice. All lenses are crack free. The chrome around all windows are very nice with the one at the back window having a dent on the top (no dent to the body though, just the chrome stip). The luggage rack is in very nice shape and the cross members slide back and forth and tighten up as they should. The rain drip gutter on the top is nice and channels the water well. The hood ornament is nice. All trim around the wood panels are nice. The wood panels themselves are good with some peeling on the driver side front fender and door near the natural crease line (view photo). The door handles are nice. The exterior mirrors are good and both are remote and work. Very nice rig to look at and gets a ton of headchecks. The bright red is the factory color and is I think the sharpest color they came in and fairly rare. All windows are nice. The windshield has a few rock chips that were repaired but no cracks. The vehicle sits at the stock height with no sagging. Nice stance. The wheels are nice and all have the chrome center caps. The interior is in very nice shape as well. The dash has no cracks and is not sun damaged. The gauges all work. There is one small hole in the black plastic part of the dash near the button for the rear window. The steering wheel is in nice shape and has a cover on it. The horn works. The gauge lenses are all nice and clear. The steering wheel is tilt optioned. All woodgrain on the inside of the SUV is in very nice shape. The door panels look new. We just had the headliner redone and it looks amazing. We also had the kick panels redone as well. The carpet is in pretty nice shape but not perfect. We live on a gravel road and our shoes get muddy and dirty so the carpet has some wear but still looks good. It does not need to be replaced by any means but just is not as perfect as the rest of the interior. The glove box is nice. The heater blows hot and the AC works great. Just had the AC system rebuilt. It has a new blower motor as well. The windows all roll up and down to include the rear hatch. The bad driver side is a little slow but it works fine. The electric door locks works except the passenger side rear does not always go all the way down. All interior door handles work good. All interior chrome is in nice shape. The window rubber and felts are nice. The carpet on the doors are nice. The vent windows both open and close as they should. The seats are in almost perfect shape. There is a small crack in the driver seat that is starting to become a tear but still very nice. The electric seats work great. The seatbelts are all nice. Even the clock works. The cigarette lighter works and the ashtray is clean. The back window rolls up from both the inside and using the key on the outside. The sunvisors are new. We put new installed tint on the windows and it makes it look great plus really cools the interior down with all that glass. The gear shifter has been replaced with a skull shifter (we aren't that BA type but it had red eyes and my wife thought it looked cool) It would easily be replaced with a stock black one. The gear shifter indicator does not move but it goes through all gears just as it should. It has a new stereo that plays CD's and has an Ipod docking station. It has four new speakers. Good sound quality. The cruise control works and was just repaired when we put in the new motor. Windshield wipers work but the washer does not. I can not seem to find an electric pump for this model. You may have to search the junk yards for one that works because the auto parts stores do not show a replacement for it. I already said the door panels look new but so does the rear panels in the cargo area. The back seat is in nice shape. The seat folds flat and looks good. The carpet on the tailgate is ok but again not as perfect as the rest of the rig. The chrome strips for the cargo area is very nice. I have the roll up cargo cover (hard to find these days). The painted metal on the inside of the Grand Wagoneer is in nice shape and shines great. There is no rust on the floorboards. The doors do not sag at all. The interior noise is good with no annoying rattles or squeeks. We are not smokers and it does not smell like smoke at all. The interior lenses are all there. The courtesy lights work. Just a very nice rig overall. The motor was just rebuilt. The old one had worn out. It was still running but had low oil pressure and just was getting old. There was no major break in the engine. When they rebuilt the motor they also had the whole timing cover/oil pump section replaced (key item to be replaced on these 360 motors). The motor has about 900 miles on since the rebuild. We changed the oil at 500 miles at our mechanic. Normally I do those myself but with the new motor I wanted my mechanic to do it. The motor was painted black. There are no oil leaks at all. The motor has a one year warranty and was rebuilt at Pro Machine here in Rapid City. While the motor was out, we had a 4 barrel performer intake manifold put on as well as a new Edelbrock 4bbl carb with an electric choke. I still have the original 2bbl intake and carb if you want it. It is so much nicer with the 4bbl and starts way easier with the new carb. This motor was built to factory specs and runs fantastic. We took it back in at the 500 mile mark to get the little tuning down to perfection. While the motor was out we also had the transmission gone through. It runs and shifts fantastic with no leaks of any kind. This rig will run for a very long time trouble free. The 4x4 part of this truck is also trouble free. When it was in the shop I had them check to make sure nothing else was needed since it was likely the time to do any other work. The truck runs great in both 2 wheel and 4 wheel drive. It shifts nicely with the flip of the switch. The hi-lo portion also works flawlessly. The light will flicker for the 4x4 but is just a flaw in the light itself. When the switch is in 2 wheel it is running only the 2 rear wheels and when it is in 4x4 mode it is running as it should. These SUVs turn extremely tight and there is no bucking like you will find in other rigs. It actually turns sharper then our Subaru! Not sure how Jeep was able to make that work. The brakes were just replaced as well. It stops very smooth and straight with no pulsing. The emergency brake also works. The exhaust is in very good shape with no thoughts of needing any work to it. The tires are in very good shape and have a lot of tread left. The spare is in great shape as well. The underside photos may look worse then it is. We live on a gravel dirt road and it is impossible to keep it clean but it is not rusted and it does clean off good with a good undercar spray. The suspension is in good shape and it really rides nice for such a large vehicle. The power steering is very sensitive and so easy to turn. There is no tow package on this rig which I thought was good when I purchased it since I know it was not abused. I have a rear spoiler for the truck but never put it on. It is the factory stock option spoiler that helps keep the rear window clean. The bushings are in nice shape. Shocks work nice. This would look much nicer if we lived in town but since it is dirt and gravel here, there is dirt under the truck right now too. There is no indication of any wrecks as all frame and bumper mounts are straight. This vehicle needs nothing to be a reliable daily driver. You can expect around 12 MPG out of this. I have not checked since we put in the new motor but that is what my research has shown. So again. New motor, refurbished tranny, cold cold cold AC, hot heater, sharp looking inside and out. Classic look of one of the best SUV's of all time. NO RUST! This is a great rig and I know we will look to find another in a few years after the house is built and we are a bit more comfortable. I guess if it does not sell then we will keep it and look at selling my toy instead of hers. Please ask any questions you wish. I will help with the shipper. I will not provide shipping. I may for a cost get it to Sioux Falls if that is closer for you but the timing has to be good for me as my schedule fluctuates. Please only bid if you are serious. This is a seriously nice rig. Again, no trades or monthly payments. We own this rig free and clear with no liens. The Jeep is located in beautiful Rapid City and it might be a perfect vacation for you to fly here and drive it home. You can see Mount Rushmore, Crazy Horse and the Black Hills. I usually classify a vehicle into three spots when people ask me the reliability of it. 1. A vehicle that needs to be towed. 2. A vehicle that could be driven if you brought a tool kit just in case. 3. A vehicle that I would trust to have my wife drive across the state at night in. This is easily a 3 since she has. I expect the 500 deposit within 24 hours and the remainder within 7 days. Good luck and have fun with it.
