siskiyousam Store If any one has been watching auctions recently, new terms are being invented such as “preservation cars” and the old adage “barn find”. Usually this expression is meant to gloss over a huge restoration project or make being worn out have some form of value. This 1979 MG Midget fits neither one of these descriptions. It is a car with 8600 actual miles from new that is in original condition. It was purchased new and stored in the owner’s garage for over twenty-five years. Our customer saw it and fell absolutely in love at first sight when they saw it in his garage. Three years later times have changed and so have their priorities. The car is now being offered once again with just a few more miles on it from when it was sold by the original owner. The car is a real time capsule. Many of the features are so labor intensive we will never see them on a modern car. It starts and runs perfectly. There has been no repair work to the body or the interior other then a couple of brush touch ups on the top of the front fenders. The hood has a small paint chip near the left front edge and there is a very small dimple in front of the driver’s side wiper arm from the hood being closed with something small on top of the battery. It has been driven and used but there is no rust or impact damage of any sort other then the minor issues noted above. Looking at the car today it is not too big a reach to see how it was delivered new. It comes with the original window sticker which shows it being sold by Wakehouse Motors in Portland, Oregon. Other then being washed and waxed, the car has not been detailed. The difference between this car and one that has been refinished is that it can be original just once. For the person that realizes what he is looking at and understands the cost to bring a similar car back, there is no question as to the value today and in the future. We accept collected funds only and for the amount of the sale. A $1000 deposit must be made within two days of the end of the sale and balance within seven days. The vehicle cannot be picked up until funds have cleared or prior arrangements have been completed. I can assist with shipping, but that will have to be ordered and paid for by the winning bidder.
