1981 PONTIAC TRAMS AM. 400 Engine, Automatic, Leather Interior And T-Tops. .. If you have always wanted a classic Trans Am but can't pay an arm and a leg for a mint/restored one, then this one will likely interest you. It is quite nice. .. My Trans Am still has its original am/fm factory stereo, which works. I know the rear speakers are not original, but they sound really good. Inside and out it is a very nice TA. .. The dual exhaust system is newer and has a nice rumble to it. The interior front seats have been re-done with factory original type materials that match the back seats perfectly. The back seats are in super original condition, as are the headliner, door panels. The sail panels and rear side panels are in nice shape, but not mint. I have a mint set of black sail panels that i will include. .. It has owers man., nice car cover, books, etc. etc. .. Starter and Battery 2010. .. unused orig. mini tire w/jack, too. .. The factory ac has been removed from the car in the past. The heater and defrosters work in the lowest position. The carpet is good. The power windows work, although the passenger side sometimes is fidgety and slow. The windshield wipers are currently not working. My mechanic checked the motor on them and told me that it seems to be fine. He feels it is a wire issue, something he is not profficient at, and stated to me that the switch seems ok, too. I have 2 extra motors and an extra switch to give the new owner as well that i will include. .. The previous owner had some aftermarket headlights installed, and i did not like them, so i had the regular type installed for the low beams .. Since doing that the person did something wrong and now they will not come on. However, the brights are still the newer type and work. .. I had planned on taking the Trans Am over to the electric shop and have these items fixed, but i have not had the time to do so. My mechanic feels that the cost will not be overly expensive. .. I believe the new owner will really enjoy this car. I have only taken it out for cruises to the park, etc. occasionally locally. The engine is very strong and was re-built about 3 years ago, And also the transmission .. which had a new torque convertor installed as well. .. The engine has GTO Ram Air 4 heads installed, YES RAM AIR 4!.. The car is very fast! .. It has its sway bars, too. .. The dash lights, stereo lights, brake lights, tail lights, etc. all work fine. It has p/s and brakes, which are 4 wheel disc. the dash has a crack on right side and it now has a cutom made dash cover mat. The rear tires are like new with 750 miles or so on them. The front tires are not new, but still in good condition overall. The speedometer quit this year at 53,xxx, the others work fine. .. The Trams Am was re-painted for the very first time about 3 years ago and looks very nice. At the time of the repaint the car had no rust out like so many do. All new emblems were installed at that time. The odometer showed around 50,000 on it at that time, but it cannot be confirmed due to it's age. It was in nice condition, though .. enough to make everyone wonder on this one. .. The Trans Am will come with a bill of sale from the State of Georgia as Georgia does not issue titles for cars this age. .. The car is in Kentucky at this time, but not registered here. .. I have not had anyone try replacing the switch in the TA with this one as yet, as i have been too busy. This switch should be good as i bought it from a reputable person. I do know for certain that they are from a 70 GTO400. He thinks he can confirm the Ram 4 status. He is very good with engines, and i am not. Thanks! .. On a RA IV head you will find the numbers 722 on the end exhaust port. 614 is in the middle port like the 16's have. Sometimes it is in the same place as the 722's. I know, Pontiac was crazy. Round port heads have a very different header as well. They are not "Pinched" at the top. The numbers you see, 16 is the correct marking for that head. Many consider that a RA III for 1969, but it was just another small chamber head put into the mix. If your mechanic knows his salt about Pontiacs at all he will have already figured out those 16's are not IV's and a 13 is a III. An automatic equiped III 12's I believe were RAIII manual shift cars. I always get those two mixed up. Pontiac even made some press in stud small valve 16's. FYI, a 16 head is a great cylinder head to port. You must also port the intake! LOL Not talking down to you AT ALL, but an engine is an air pump. That's all! RA IV heads allow the engine to pump in more air in a smoother faster way. Porting other heads will make them perform as well if not better that RA IV's just depends on your level of skill and head orientation. I am sooo sorry for all the missinformation you have recieved. Many mechanics won't admit to being wrong because of your sex! LOL I know this as my daughter is a drag racer since age eight! I have fought the stereo type thing along side her many times! Oh, on another note, I think your car is too nice to sell for your asking price. And if you would like, i have no problem writing up an ad that will geet you more money.
