Vehicle Detail
1935 LaSalle La Salle 35-5011 Touring Coupe. Flathead Straight Eight Cylinder Engine. 1,150 manufactured, two known in the U.S. and one known overseas. This car is shown on page 225 in the book LaSalle - Cadillac's Companion Car, by Larson and Van Gelderen, 2000. Single sidemount on the passenger side with bustleback trunk. Two big lovely suicide doors and 10 art deco portholes. It has been a solid driver for the 8 years that I have owned it. The stock 4.55 gear set was replaced with a 3.75 gear. by Phil Bray. Phil has made numerous ring and pinion sets for CCCA tour cars. Car cruises comfortably at 60 mph without strain. When I acquired it from a Cadillac and LaSalle Club member, it was already on its way to being a great AACA Nickle Tour Car. Prior to the gear change, I did several solo 500 mile weekends to the Bay Harbor Concours and was in the show. The car was in the Eyes on Design show in 2009 at the Henry Ford Estate in Grosse Point. I have driven this car everywhere during my ownership. "Well sorted" is a fair description. I have been active in the classic car hobby for 20 years, and this is my "keep it forever" car that isn't being driven. It is time that the 35 has a new steward and a new home. The car is a solid #3 car, according to the Old Cars Guidelines. My friends tell me that it is better than that, but I know how to grade a car. In Cadillac Club showing, it would be classed as a non-competitive Primary car. The crowd appeal on the street is strong. One of the few cars that I have had, (50) that invites comments from women at traffic lights. In preparation for sale, I have just had new points, plugs, condenser and cap installed. The oil was changed and an electric fuel pump was installed as a back up. The car runs on the mechanical pump. It has aftermarket turn signals which are fitted nicely. The radio and all related components are present but inoperative. The known defects: the shocks will leak when filled with fluid, but the damping improves and they leak down over a season. The only rust that I know about is in one running board, and it has been reinforced and coated with POR- 15. The rubber on the mats was replaced last year, and the proper mat trays were installed too. The new tires were installed last year as well. I have included pictures of the undercarriage which has not been detailed to make it pretty. Frame is SOLID. The motor has been detailed and the car was rewired some years ago when it was painted. The worst paint flaws are under the hood, but there is some checking on the trunk. Happy to take any additional pictures. I would like it if you or your agent inspected the car, so we are all on the same page. Any questions will be answered quickly. If you are a serious party, send me your phone number and I will call you back. I have a copy of the build sheet. The picture in front of the Airstream is a mock up done at a Tin Can Tourist Vintage Trailer Rally. The car also appears in several of the Doug Keister vintage trailer books, parked in front of other people's trailers. I have never towed anything and it does not have a hitch. Please understand that I don't have the energy to have problems with this sale. I have done my best to represent the car properly. If you have less than 100% feedback or have fewer than 10 positives, you must contact me prior to bidding. That being said, I reserve the right to cancel your bid if you don't meet the requirements. I monitor my mail almost hourly, just send me a note. Thanks. Dave On Jun-20-11 at 06:30:51 PDT, seller added the following information: I am asking for best offers NOW, via email.
