Vehicle Detail

For sale is a 2005 Triumph Sprint motorcycle in excellent condition. This bike is very similar to the 2011 Triumph Sprint, but is slightly more sport-oriented. And of course, half the price! If you are not familiar with the Triumph three-cylinder engine, you are in for a real treat. It is easily one of the most charismatic engines ever installed in a motorcycle. It makes a great sound, has great power throughout the rev range, and it is very solid and reliable. The engine splits the difference between Ducati two-cylinder torque, and GSXR four-cylinder top end. The motor is extremely flexible, but with well over 100 horsepower, it is not for the beginner. The bike is easy to ride, but extremely fast. The bike also splits the difference between an upright seating position and an uncomfortable sport crouch, providing discriminating riders with all-day comfort, but with a distinct sporting character that lets you know it was born and bred on a racetrack. Suspension and brakes are firm yet supple enough for real-world comfort. The bike has a single-sided swingarm, which makes wheel removal a snap. Overall design of the bike is very well thought out and easy to work on for the do-it-yourselfer. Included in the deal is a Triumph branded touring trunk that can be mounted and removed in seconds. The trunk is perfect for commuters, providing a lockable compartment for laptops, briefcases, etc., as well as a lockable compartment for leaving your helmet with the bike when you go to work. When the trunk is removed, a mounting platform is visible (see photos). I am happy to remove this platform from the bike prior to sale, should the buyer prefer a clean, sportbike look. If you want the trunk and its mount removed, I will reduce purchase price by $50. With 7,600 miles, this bike is barely broken in. As with any bike that has been ridden, it has some blemishes: - It could use a tune up. I'd suggest a fuel injector synchronization as well as a check of valve lash. Check your local dealer for pricing. - I would also suggest a flush of the cooling and hydraulic brake systems. These are things that a home mechanic can accomplish. - The back tire needs to be replaced within a few thousand miles. - There is a minor chip in the tank that I tried to photograph, but it is so slight as to not be visible. Likewise, some minor chips in the side covers. The bike is a blast to ride and it will provide the buyer with years of trouble-free enjoyment. The best thing about it is that it provides modern sport performance without the penalty of a torture-rack rack riding position. Plus it is not a bike that you will see on every street corner--unlike so many ubiquitous sportbikes. The bike has character, and it never fails to put a smile on my face every time I ride it.
