Vehicle Detail

For sale, as is, used Ford E-Series Econoline Club Wagon Van with 78617 miles, powered by a 302 V8 engine, automatic transmision, factory Air Conditioning not working (converted to R134 before I purchased it), original upolstery except for floor and engine cover. I drove this van daily from 2006 to 2009. Most of its use was for a six mile drive to work with an occasional drive to nearby towns. The history I was given by the seller was that it had new brake lines, exhaust system, and windshield and reciepts came with van. The condition of the vehicle was good and clean for its age at that time. The previous owner was a paint shop and I believe the vehicle has been repainted. The drive train seems to be in good shape and the transmision shifts normaly. Acceleration is good and I had no problem merging with interstate traffic but it is geared for city use and did not have high speed gearing. In the last couple of years it has left me on the side of the interstate a couple of times and I would just as soon crush it than work on it anymore. It can be running fine and then it will shut off with no warning. It has become hard to start. I do not have time to work on it and I consider this vehicle a project or parts. It does not have power steering or power brakes. It is an old vintage van. The summary of the maintenance I performed to this vehicle since I have owned it is as follows -- oil changes, engine tune-up except for plug wires, overhauled carburator with kit, replaced vacuume lines on engine, replaced transmision oil, serviced airconditioning system for leakage, replaced cooling system components such as radiator, thermostat, hoses, belts, water pump, and fan, installed new timing chain and timing gear set, installed four new tires and installed two spare tires with the two best of the old tires, replaced carpet, replaced fuel pump, replaced ignition coil and I replaced the heater core. The mechanical issues that I am aware of are as follows--- The windshield is cracked. I put in an aftermarket manual choke from autozone because the auto choke was unreliable. The battery needs to be replaced. The steering is not very tight. the steering links need to be replaced but I drove it as is. The air conditioning system needs to be flushed and reserviced with a new drier and Orings. Due to the engine running warm, I chose to not use the air conditioning. During summertime conditions, the engine runs warm when sitting in slow stop and go traffic or long waits at drive through situations. The temperature cools down when moving. I have replaced all of the cooling system components trying to find the problem. I tried rebuilding the carburetor and it work OK for a while but I think it needs a rebuilt exchange unit. It will start and quit. I replaced the fuel pump but it still will not stay running after it starts. It is not reliable to get on the road with this problem, it will leave you on the side of the highway! The start relay needs to be replaced. It needs a tap to unstick it to start sometime and the other day it stuck on start and I had to tap it to turn off the starter. I cleaned the dirt out of the neutral safety switch but occasionally you need to bump the shift lever slightly when you turn the key for the starter to spin. Water sometimes seeps through back door seals, so I usually kept a rubber mat at the back doors to protect the carpet from dampness and tool box rash. Although this van may make a good utility vehicle for someone, Due to the age of the vehicle, I do not offer any warrenty, sold as is. No personal checks. Pay Pal or other form of payment only. Payment in full within three days of auction end unless we have agreed on other arrangements in advance. This sale is final, however, the Van is available to see by appointment before bidding. Buyer is responsible for notary or documentation fees. Buyer is responsible for vehicle pickup or shipping. This vehicle will need to be towed away to be worked on. Feel free to ask any questions before bidding.
