Vehicle Detail

1978 Triumph Bonneville with matching numbers on the frame and engine. The overall appearance of the bike is beautiful. Within the past year, the bike got new tires, a new battery, a rebuilt top end (bored .040 over), the head rebuilt, and new Amal carbs. The electrical stuff works fine...the headlight, brake light, horn, turn signals, & the Boyer electronic ignition. The tach works fine as well, but the speedometer needs rebuilt because the needle jumps around. Since I've only owned the bike about a year, I have no way of knowing the accuracy of the reading on the odometer so I have just listed what is shown on the odometer. Now for the bad news: Following the rebuild, oil leaks appeared around the lower o-ring area on both push-rod tubes so they will need to be replaced. It doesn't take long for the oil to make a mess on the crankcase. As far as the expense for replacing the o-rings goes, the parts cost will be minimal. Replacing them could take several hours and is a pain in the neck that I don't want to be bothered with. So, after just letting the bike sit for months, I've decided to sell the bike and spend my time riding my Harley. Bike is priced right to off set the oil leak problem the buyer will need to address. Buyer is responsible for all shipping arrangements and expenses. Bids will not be accepted from overseas bidders. PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING CHANGE TO THE DESCRIPTION / CONDITION OF THE BIKE: The bike was running about 3 months ago, but has not been started since that time. Today, a local Ebayer came to see the condition of the bike, but I could not get it to run. I could get no fire to the plugs. The battery is new, the lights lit up, the turn signals blinked, the horn honked, the fuse was good, but no fire to the plugs. So, an electrical problem has developed that will need to be addressed. For this reason, I have lowered the opening bid bid to $2,500 with no reserve. That is about as cheap as you will buy a Triumph in this condition anywhere. If the bike gets no bids, I will have it repaired and put it back on Ebay at a later date.
