Vehicle Detail
I am selling my 1975 Mercedes Benz 280s GERMAN IMPORTED MODEL. This vehicle was sold originally in Germany and imported into the states. The odometer and speedometer are both in Kilometers ONLY. It has just 133,000 ORIGINAL MILES. I will tell you as much as I can about the vehicle and describe it to the best of my ability. I purchased this car with the intent of restoring it a little bit and making a daily driver from it. It will not take much to get this beautiful classic in amazing condition. As far as the mechanics go it is great. The engine is a single weber carburetor 2.8 straight 6 and starts up every time perfectly on the first crank. It has no smoke and does not burn any oil. It is a 4-speed manual which is VERY rare and I do not believe they ever imported the 280s into the states with a manual transmission. All 4 gears and reverse work good. Car drives straight down the highway and brakes effectively with no noise. It has great power on the highway. All the gauges and lights and electronics work. Now on to the exterior which is what needs the most work. From 20 feet away the paint is not horrible but it will definitely need to be repainted for a quality finish. It was repainted about 5 years ago with a not so quality job. All glass in the car is good. I just replaced the rear windshield seal and it is currently just sitting on the car and not adhered to it yet. I am not going to fully install the rear window because I believe whoever purchases this car will want to paint it and they will need to take out the windows anyway. There is a BRAND NEW seal on the window right now though. There is a little rust on the rocker panels and a crease on the one side of the car. The pictures will detail this. There is no front hood ornament and no emblems on the back. I removed these because they were in poor condition and was going to paint it. Now here is the interesting part. It appears to have an aftermarket (maybe factory) large ragtop sunroof installed. It is about twice the size of a normal sunroof. The canvas top has a steel frame and slides open. It currently is not working correctly and I will probably just let the future owner fix it. The interior is decent. There is a tear in the front driver seat and a small tear on the passenger front seat. There are a few small cracks in the dashboard. One piece of trim on the drivers side door is off but I have it for you to glue back on. The rear seat is in good condition but has come apart from the base on the passenger side and could be attached back down with a little work. The carpets are original and good. The car came from the factory with NO A/C. I think that is about I can explain myself. If you have any more questions please message me and if you would like to come see it please feel free to message me and schedule a meeting. This is a very rare care and with a little work will make a great collector's item for someone! Happy Bidding!
