Vehicle Detail
Listed here is a 73 Cuda 340 with a 4 speed. This is a real Petty Blue or Basin Street Blue Cuda. Car originally came with an automatic transmission from the factory and was changed to a 4 speed for more fun. This is a really nice West Coast car that's been garaged and taken care of. This Cuda is rust free with the exception of the drivers rear lower quarter. I have personally owned this car for 10 years and have slowly been restoring the car as I have the time. I have invested a lot of time and money into this car because I always planned on keeping it, but things change....... Here is what the car has: Engine: Factory replacement 340 that was completely rebuilt. When we removed the engine it had a factory tin tag riveted to the block that stated it was a factory replacement engine. This tag is included. Engine bored .030 over, heads redone, mopar purple cam, high rise intake, Demon carb. Everything is the engine bay was either rebuilt or replaced during the engine rebuild. The engine bay was also repainted. The engine has a lot of power but is completely streetable and nice for cruising. I have never raced the car and that was not my intent, I built this motor for cruising. Transmission: 23 spline 4 speed was added within the last year. The transmission was completely dissasembled and rebuilt by a local professional transmission shop who specializes in Mopars. Transmission is smooth, shifts nice, and does not whine. All seals replaced and gears that had any wear were replaced from other original trans parts, not parts from China. Body: One of the reasons I purchased this particular Cuda is because it didn't need any rust work or panel replacement. The car is super solid. When I replaced the carpet, I noticed that the floor pans were solid with a small amount of surface rust under the drivers gas pedal. The surface rust was removed and the floors looked great. I then brushed POR-15 over the entire floor before replacing the carpet to ensure that no water would get to the floors. The vinyl top was removed and the top was solid underneath. A 70-71 style vinyl top was professionaly installed and looks sharp! The paint on the car was buffed out and looks nice.......however this car is a 5 footer and is in no way a show car paint job. There are years of small dings, paint chips and scratches that show if you look carefully. Again this car is very presentable and great for local cruises and shows, however it could use a paint job if you wanted to take it to big Mopar shows. I had the grille, lower grille, and front valence repainted and all of the lenses polished. The brand new paint matches well but there is a color difference from the valence and front of the lower fender hard line. Most people won't notice this but it is there. The doors, hood and trunk all shut nicely. I had the trunk repainted at the same time as the grille. Trunk is solid and looks nice....could use a trunk liner to be really nice. All of the lights function properly including the hood mounted turn signal indicators. Underside of hood is painted black but a hood insulator pad would remedy this. Again the only rust you will find is in the drivers rear quarter bottom corner and this is very minimal. Exhaust: I used Hooker headers that go into an H pipe. The 2.5 in exhaust runs into 3 chamber flowmasters and exits the original stock chrome tips. The car sounds loud enough without being obnoxious and isn't annoying on the freeway. Interior: The headliner is nice on this car as well as the sun visors. I had the door panels repainted and replaced the drivers panel because it was too chalky. The carpet was replaced, there are a couple of small grease spots on the carpet. The rear seat was rarely used and looks really nice. The front seats will need to be recovered because the lower seat seams are split. I don't know if they could be re-sewn or just need replacing. I bought an original pistol grip shifter for this car and it looks good (not a repop) I also found a really nice Rim Blow wheel with no cracks that is on the car. The horn pad with the fish is a reproduction. The car comes with the original black steering wheel. The gauges work but the fuel gauge only goes to 3/4 when you fill it up all of the way. Wheels: The wheels are Torque Thrust II's, 15x8 in the rear and 15x7 in the front. The tires are almost new. There is a picture of the Cuda with 18x8 inch COYS to show what the car looks like with bigger wheels. THE 18 inch COYS ARE NOT INCLUDED in the sale but can be purchased separately if desired. The drivers rear tire does rub on the fender well trim, this only happens if you hit a large bump but I think could be remedied with new leaf springs or a narrower tire. Documentation: This car has the fender tag, build sheet that I located under the rear seat, and door vin sticker. I looked under the dash cover and could not find the dash vin. However the fender tag matches the build sheet, door sticker and body stamping on the cowl. Body stampings match the fender tag. Things that need to be fixed: The cuppler seal on the steering box needs to be replaced and is leaking power steering fluid. The brass fitting for the oil pressure gauge is leaking and needs to be replaced or just tightened with thread sealer. Front seats need to be recovered. This is a nice Cuda that is a blast to drive and gets thumbs up everywhere. This is a quality car so bid with confidence and watch the video that is included. Come and see the car for yourself anytime, just call me to set up a time. I have described the car to the best of my ability. There is no warranty with the car. Please call Jake at (530) 941-6200.
