Vehicle Detail
1947 Plymouth 2-door Clube Coupe NO RESERVE This is a nice driver quality cruiser, not a show car. It is what old car people call a 20-footer. I've owned the car since October 2005. It was painted it's present color before I purchased it and the former owner changed the interior to the modern seats you see in the pictures and installed an off-white headliner. I have the original seats if the buyer wants them. I didn't have the car long until I realized that the main bearings were rattling so I removed the engine and had it re-bored, head milled, and completely rebuilt. It has approximately 1200 miles on the rebuild. While the engine was out, I cleaned the fuel tank, replaced all of the steel and flexible brake lines, replaced the front brake shoes and rebuilt the master cylinder. All four shock absorbers were replaced. The clutch pressure plate was rebuilt, clutch disc and throw-out bearing replaced, along with front u-joint & boot. The car came from Kansas but I don't know whether or not it spent all of it's former life there. A former owner converted it to 12-volts but did not finish the job by hooking up the heater or the radio. Those two things will require a couple of resistors. The gas gauge works intermittently; I believe due to a bad ground. A former owner also replaced both front floors. NOTE: The mileage listed is what the odometer shows but I cannot verify the accuracy. Title is marked as odometer\ exempt. In the past year I have installed a new battery, done a complete tune up including spark plug wires, split the exhaust manifold and installed complete dual exhaust system from engine to rear. Also, I have installed an auxillary electric fuel pump to make it easier to start when stored for extended periods or in case of vapor lock due to modern fuel with alcohol. I bought the car in order to have something to cruise in while my other old cars were out of commission to have some work done but now they're back and I can't keep up with all the work. Last year the speedometer broke on this car; I found another one but haven't found time to get it in. Plus, I wanted to epoxy and paint the steering wheel and refurbish the dash with a woodgrain kit but haven't done that either! I thought I would just drive the Plymouth on tours with my car club as it is and I have, but I found that I cannot be satisfied with an old car when there are things that should be done to it. The paint has got some nicks, scratches, and faded spots so if I keep it much longer, I'll probably be considering stripping the old paint and repainting it. I just don't know when I'll get around to it which is the reason I've decided to sell it. If you have any questions or want to see the car, contact me using the "Ask Seller a Question" and I'll respond as quickly as I can. Note: The car is for sale locally so I will have to end the auction early if I get an offer I can't refuse. The car is located just south of Indianapolis, Indiana near exit #99 off of I-65. I have tried to reveal all that I possibly can about the car so there won't be any surprises. I have a valid, clear Indiana title in my name so there won't be any problems for the buyer transferring ownership. $500.00 deposit required within 24 hours of auction end, balance due when car is picked up. Thank you for looking and happy bidding! On Jun-11-11 at 08:05:40 PDT, seller added the following information: NOTE! No Reserve! No Reserve! Someone is going to get a fantastic buy on this car as I have close to $10,000 in it not including anything for labor. However, my loss is your gain. I just have other things to do besides tinkering with old cars all the time.
