Vehicle Detail
This is a very clean example of the famous Triumph 650 Bonneville. This bike is in very good running condition. All of the shiney aluminum parts including the engine side covers, brake plates, handlebar controls and fork lowers have been professionally polished. New parts include: Pistons and rebore, complete breather circuit, fork seals, tires and tubes and the battery. The general condition of the paint is very presentable with a few minor scratches and chips with one fork chip on the right side front of the tank the size of a sunflower seed. The seat is original with nice patina on the "Triumph" on the back. There are two very small tears that I tried to show in the photos. The original chrome is in fare condition with slight pitting on the headlight, fuel cap and other small pieces. The fork chrome is weak on the right leg but doesn't seem to leak. The bike came with a Boyer Bransden electronic ignition and a suitable two-lead coil installed by the previous owner. The original engine was blown up and a TR6C 650cc engine was installed using the original Bonneville cams and dual carb head . I took the top end down a few years ago and installed new 9.5:1 pistons and had the cylinders bored to match. The only thing the bike needs is a rear brake light switch. Also, the speedo seems to read high. This may clean up after the bike has been driven for a while as it has mostly sat for the last 10 years. I built this bike for my wife to ride but no matter how much she tried, she could not get the timing/weight transfer down to succesfully kick it over. It is a first kick starter for me,(a fact that has almost caused divorce on a few occasions!) Overall this bike is in very good condition and ready to ride. With the aftermarket exhaust and slightly shorter mufflers, this bike sound real good. Parts are easily available from a number of suppliers here in the states. With the plate from my regular rider '71 Bonneville, I have had this bike out to a few vintage bike events in the Minneapolis area and it always attracts a crowd. Payment is to be made within 7 days of the auction close. The bike needs to be picked up no more than 30 days after the close of the auction. Bidders with less than 5 feedbacks or less than 97% positive need to contact me before bidding. Shipping is completely the resposibility of the winning bidder. I will help out logistically with pick up where available. Please feel free to give me a call with any questions. (612)-816-7373 Mike
