Up for auction is a Mercedes Benz 300SD, this car is a daily driver and has been super reliable. The pictures will speak for themselves and if additional pictures are wanted please let me know. Known deficiencies with the car are as follows; A/C does not work. Rear window defroster does not work. Dash light rheostat does not work, dash lights are currently on very dim. Tachometer and cruise control work intermittently. There are some rust bubbles starting on the front right fender and front passenger door. Floor pans, trunk and shock towers are very clean and solid, jack holes show surface rust but nothing significant. The paint is loosing the clear coat in a couple areas on the hood and roof just behind the sunroof. I have driven this car for several years as a daily commuter. This vehicle has a current PA state annual inspection which expires 9/11. In my 40 mile round trip commute which is approximately 40% interstate it will average 26 to 28 mpg, on a recent trip to Florida it ranged 29 to 31 mpg. The car in my opinion is mechanically sound and I would not hesitate to jump in it an head to Florida tomorrow. The tires are 75% with less than 15k on them. All power windows, power mirror, sunroof, power seats and radio / power antenna work as they should. Vacuum power lock system works properly as well as vacuum shut down and vacuum climate control functions. Speedometer, odometer, tripometer, gauges and analog clock all work properly. Turbo spools up as it should and you can feel it come to life in the 1800 to 2000 rpm range. Transimittion shifts good with a very firm 1 to 2 shift as with most MB diesels of this vintage. The car runs and drives down the road very well, very smooth on the highway. You can see from the pictures the oil pressure is very good at idle and operating temp. For those of you that do not know the 3 liter 5 cylinder from Mercedes, these engines are long runners and 224k is still in the front half of its life if properly maintained. Understanding that the winters are not extreme in NE PA, I have had no issue with cold weather starts, it has a factory block heater which I have never used because it was never needed. The interior is in good shape with no tears or rips. There is some wear on the front seats, some color fading of the leather. All interior and exterior lighting works as they should including the fog lights and rear interior map lights. The rear deck storage compartments are in good shape with the original first aid kit intact and unopened. The car has a full sized spare tire with matching alloy rim, original jack and original Mercedes Benz tool kit.
