Please read the entire ad and view all photos before bidding. Up for auction is my beautiful 280 se Mercedes Benz. This car was purchased in Germany and shipped to the United States by its original owner of 29 years. All American upgrades were done when it entered the states. You won't find this Mercedes in any of the data bases such as NADA or Kelly Blue Book as the 280se was not imported to the United States that year. However if you should ever need an engine part or body part they are readily available anywhere in the States. The car has the 2.8 liter duel overhead cam, fuel injected inline 6 cylinder which was used in several other models, and the body and interior parts are exactly the same as the 1981-86 Mercedes 300 SD. So if you should ever need something for this car, it's no problem. * I Had to list this car as a 1980 because this German VIN number is not in ebays Data base. Otherwise I couldn't have listed it. This is a 1982 Benz. The seriel # has to be posted on any car later than a 1981 and because it's German, ebay lists it as invalid. For your info., the VIN # is WDB12602212061837. This was a one owner car for 29 years. The car was always garaged and pampered like a baby and driven very very little. The car drives out like it did when new. It's as solid as a rock. She weighs 3700 LBS and has a ride like you wouldn't believe. I took it on a trip through the Blue Ridge mountains two weeks ago and it drove like a dream. The engine is one of Mercedes most bullet proof engines. It has had regular oil changes and serviced all of its life. Always using synthetic oil. It doesn't drip a drop of oil and doesn't use a drop between changes. The engine has never been steam cleaned and is as nice as new with no oil residue anywhere. Everything works on the car including the electric clock. The paint and interior on the car are original. (Never been any paint work on the car and never in an accident) . The paint shows very very little ware, and the interior is like new front and back. SEE PHOTOS. The under side of this Benz looks as good as the top side. Not even any surface rust. The air conditioning has been upgraded to the new freon R-34. The ac will freeze you out and has duel climate controls. Also rear air. The two little compartments behind the rear seat and under the rear window have all equipment in them that came with the car. The first aid kit is in one side and is still in its plastic bag (unopened). The other side contains a blanket which is also in the unopened plastic bag. The trunk looks as if no one has ever opened it. It contains the original spare on the factory alloy which has never been on the ground. SEE PHOTO. The tool kit is also in the original plastic bag. The ashtrays have never been used. There are four michelin tires on the ground with 65% tread ware left on them. I just had the car serviced and the brakes were checked for ware and they too have plenty of ware left in them. I have the owners manual, two sets of keys and the valet key. This car is a true survivor and would be very hard to find another 1982 Benz in this condition. It is truely a very fine automobile with plenty of life left in her. To me, the older Mercedes has a much more stately look to it than the new ones. The new ones look like every other car on the road. As far as gas mileage goes, she gets around 15 MPG in town and around 25 MPG on the highway. Not bad for a car as heavy as this. The only up grade the car has had in addition to the R-34 up grade is a 200 watt Kenwood stereo CD player has been professionally installed. It also is equiped with Sirius Satelite radio which is built in to the Kenwood unit with the proper satelite antenna installed on the trunk. When the unit was installed all original speakers were replaced with new ones. The car has power locks and power mirrors but no power seats or power windows, which to me that is a good thing as you have nothing like that to break on you. This car was also not equiped with cruise control. I think for the condition of the car my "buy it now" price is a fare one. If it were not for this poor economy the car should bring a good deal more than this. PLEASE READ THIS: The odometer reads 116,800 miles on it but the odometer quit working about 2 months ago. I figure the car has about 120,000 on it presently. If you look at my service reciepts from the mercedes dealership this mileage can be verified. Also if you see and drive the car you can see that this is correct. It seems there is a little gear that goes bad in the odometer and they are readily available, but you have to take the guage cluster out to replace it and I'm not going to that expense.
