Vehicle Detail
Re-listing one last time, lower statring bid. Car must go. Rare1959 Austin princess model DS7. Came from the factory with the following:straight 6 cylinder 4 liter engine, power steering, power brakes, GM hydromatic automatic transmission, telescoping steering wheel. There were only aprox. 200 of these cars made from 1956 to 1959 (last year for the DS7 series). This car will need complete restoration. Car has sat for over 30 years. The car is approx. 99 % complete. Almost any item you may see missing from the body in the photos is stored and will be included with your purchase, along with all the interior items such as windor cranks and door handles. The only items I know are missing are, tail light lenses(destroyed by the AZ sun, a strip of chrome that goes 3/4 the way down the center of the hood, 1 hub cap, and any keys that would be needed. All the glass is intact, the entire drive line is there(may or may not be operational). The engine is partly disassembled, and will not turn over. Appears that around 1970 the head gasket blew and the car was parked with water/ anti-freeze in no. 3 and 4 cylinders. Body is badly rusted on the lower panels and at one point someone filled the rust holes in with bondo and repainted the car to use as a wedding car. The grill was removed and dicarded and a fo- Rolls grill was installed. I purchased a grill from a standard Princess out of Holland and had it shipped over. It fits on the hood but does not clear the front bumper properly and will need some modification, but it is near impossable to find a correct DS7 grill. Interior is present but needs complete resoration except for some of the wood trim around the windows which have already been re-finished. It even still has the original inside rearview mirror and original windshield washer bottle (glass). All handles and cranks are included. Dash completely trashed but I have photo's of what was left which show how it was made, so a new one can be built. Gauges are included and appear to function except for the electric clock(it's over 50 years old). After buying this car, I spent several months looking up information on the DS7 series and could only find 6 other DS7's still owned and being operated. The body is hand crafted by Vandenplas, with an aluminium hood (bonnet), doors and trunk(boot). This was done to save on steel and to lighten the car. The DS7 was considered a "Personal Limo", and you could order custom luggage that fit the trunk space like a glove, (information that was included in the Dealers brocheur). I would have liked to have finished the restoration of the car as I think it is worty of being restored, but I no longer have the time, space or the phisical ability to do so, so I am hoping that some one out there can appreciate the rarity of the model and complete what I could not. The opening bid reflects ONLY what I spent in dollars to purchase the grill and have it shipped to the US. Along with the purchase I will include a Dealers brochure for the Princess line of cars witch includes color drawings and photo's of the DS7 model along with factory specs. and copys of any photo's I have taken of the car from the days after I purchased it. There is an old title but it has been signed and transfered thru so many dealers that it will take some doing to get it sorted out. I purchased with a bill of sale, and can offer only the same, so concider the car is sold with out a title and you won't be suprised. Please, if you have any questions, e-mail me and I will try to answere them the best I can with what I know about the car and its condition. Local pick up only. You will need a heavy duty car trailer for this one. Weight aprox 4500 lbs, 16 ft. 9 in. long, 6 ft. 1 1/4in. wide and 5 ft. 5 3/4 in high. Car is BIG!!!!!!!!!!!! Payment in cash on pick-up or thru PayPal prior to pick-up. I have added more photos of the engine and body. The photo engine is prior to the head being remover for inspection of the cylinders to determine why the enigine does not turn over.(Blown headgasket, sat for 20 plus years) Again, this car will require complete restoration, but when completed you will have 1, of a few left in existance.
