Vehicle Detail

Triumph 1971 250cc Blazer Street Scrambler T25SS Same as BSA B25SS Gold Star and similar to Triumph T25T and TR50MX and BSA B25T, B50SS, B50T and B50MX. I believe its recorded mileage at 5,671 is correct. As well as the pictures here there are another 200 or so in the web album. Click Here for 200+ Additional Web Album Pictures. I took all these pictures this weekend (I stopped when the battery in my camera went flat). If there’s something I’ve missed that you want to see, just ask and I’ll take a snap and post it to the web album. This T25SS is the eighth 1971 BSA/Triumph 250 single I’ve owned over the years. I’ve owned this one since May 2001. A new job means I need to make room in my garage for a commuter ‘bike and this has to go. Like the other 1970s BSA/Triumphs I’ve owned and own, I’ve used this T25SS for the odd trip around town and one or two shows this year. Growing up in England, I bought one of these second hand in 1974 as my first real ‘bike. I felt like a king and way cooler (but much slower…) than my buddies who were into Kawasaki S-1 triples and Honda CB250 twins. Times change, but the memories linger - hence the soft spot for this model and why I’ve owned so many over the years. There’s not much to say about this ‘bike. It has the “modern” styling that BSA/Triumph introduced for most of the range in 1971 - slimline forks, improved switchgear, turn-signals and a large-diameter backbone frame that doubled as the main oil tank “oil-in-frame.” It does everything in the way you’d expect an un-restored forty-year-old British 250cc single would. It starts and runs fine - much better when its being used rather than stood for long periods. It stops, just, which is all these ‘bikes ever did (the performance from the 6” single leading shoe front brake is a fraction of what a modern disc set up achieves). All the electrics work as they should. Keys are included for both the ignition and the steering lock. It will weep a drop a little oil after a ride, but nothing serious. It is un-restored, so the paint and chrome have a forty-year patina. The tires are original and they are heavily checked and the tubes just about hold air – they’ve been fine for the limited miles running errands and going to local shows that I’ve done, but anyone thinking about doing more will definitely want to replace them. Other than normal maintenance, I’ve not had to touch the ‘bike. Along with it regular oil and filter changes the ‘carb got an overhaul using an AMAL OEM Major Repair Kit as preventative maintenance in the past 12 months. It’s battery gave up this winter and I have not replaced it so a new owner should probably budget for a new one - a neat feature of these ‘bikes’ electrical system is that they are designed to start and run without a battery, albeit the lights dim if tick-over drops too low. Frame and engine numbers match - PE02152 - which puts it as being manufactured in November 1970 for the 1971 Model Year As far as I am aware, the bike is complete. I had planned to give it a new paint job one day (gas tank/fenders/side panels ) to make it a really impressive ‘bike, but reality is that I need to be a little more pragmatic about the rides I have and it is now time for someone else to enjoy this ‘bike. Free and clear, but, as typical for ‘bikes of this age in Georgia, it does not have a title. Therefore, it’s sold with a Bill of Sale. It is sold as-is where-is with no warranty expressed or implied. Unless you only plan on riding this a few miles (I’ve never tried, but can’t imagine that it can keep up with Interstate traffic) bring a trailer or arrange to have it shipped. I’m flexible on collection and happy to help with shipping, but I will not crate the ‘bike. Happy to answer questions. Here's the link again for the pictures in the web album.
