I would also argue that they are among the most attractive and affordable. They offer the value of the venerable 3.0 engine, exceptional handling, excellent exterior appearance, are plentiful in the used market, and have enormous support for upgrades through a variety of aftermarket performance manufacturers. Stories of 200K mile SCs are common. In fact, in his book, Porsche 911 Performance Handbook, Bruce Anderson cites a story of one daily driver with 455,000 miles without an engine rebuild. With proper maintenance and driving technique these cars can be a faithful companion for years. This great Porsche where driven only about 500 miles per month, highway driven total 186k miles. Engine: I would recommend oil changes with Mobil 1 every 7-10K miles (that's going to be about 10-11 quarts for the change). There have been some issues with using RedLine on tired engines - apparently, there have been some reports of leaks occurring (on previously leak-free cars) after oil changes with RedLine. Porsche uses Mobil 1 from the factory, so I think it's the best choice. Make sure that you properly warm up the car before driving too aggressively. Wait until the red needle on the oil temperature gauge is out of the lower white box.If you don't have the Carrera chain tensioner update or safety stops you might want to consider getting them to prevent catastrophic engine damage if a timing chain fails. THIS CAR HAS THIS . Exterior: I've saved the best for last. The SCs (and later Carreras) are in my opinion the most handsome of the modern 911s. The body colored bumpers, blacked-out trim, 16" Fuchs wheels, real Whale Tail (if you can find one) make these cars universally identifiable and truly classic. Even though Porsche started galvanizing the bodies in 1978, watch out for rust in the following spots: - Bottom of A-pillars (windshield)..... NONE - Inside doors.... NONE - Inside front fenders (where battery an oil cooler reside in close proximity) NONE - Lift points...NONE - Floor boards......NONE That's just a portion of what I wanted to write - look around there are a lot of great 911 sites out there. Also, be sure to become a PCA member when you get your Porsche and try some drivers education events or autocrosses - I think you'll be amazed at just how fun a 20 year old car can be. INTERIOR IS SUPER CLEAN, ORIGINAL, NO RIPS OR TEARS.APLINE STEREO AND CD. CAR RUNS AND DRIVES PERFECT. VERY POWERFULL. NO SMOKING OR VALVE NOISE. THE MOTOR LOOKS ALL ORIGINAL. SUSPENSION IS VERY TIGHT AND THE USUAL HARD SUSPENSION. THIS IS A GREAT FUN DRIVER. THE ONLY THING I DO NOT LIKE ON THE CAR IS THE FIBERGLASS TARGA TOP, THEY NEVER FIT RIGHT BUT WILL GET YOU THROUGH A RAIN STORM WHEN NEEDED. OTHER WISE I WOULD INVEST IN A REAL TARGA.
