Vehicle Detail

1965 Ford Mustang Fastback in VERY, VERY ROUGH condition; was a two barrel 289 with a three speed manual transmission & manual brakes. VIN # 5T09C161376; Body 63A Color X Trim 26 Date 065 DSO 15 Axle 6 Trans 1. I found this car after doing a Google search for “Mustang Fastback body for sale”; bought from a guy in Pace, FL who at one point in time was going to turn this car into a drag racer. I had it brought to South Carolina where it has sat in a barn since June 2008. No title but I do have a bill of sale from the previous owner. This was to be a father-son restoration project but the economy has struck me again and I am without a job. TAKE A LONG AND HARD LOOK AT THE PICTURES ON PHOTOBUCKET BEFORE BIDDING!!! http://s942.photobucket.com/albums/ad263/nearbeer/ This is a major, major project and I do not want anybody to think that I am not being upfront. Please look at my 100% feedback and contact me through eBay if you have questions. The BAD: As you can see in the pictures, there is extensive surface rust on all panels. At one point someone had taken a DA sander to prep the body for paint but did not follow through. Typical Ford uni-body rust/rot in the cowl area, the rear wheel wells + trunk area. No front seats and the original steering wheel is gone. What you see in the pictures is what you get; no other parts to convey. No wheels; body rests on a 4x4 wood dolly with industrial wheels (front wheels caster). The UGLY: I believe that every body panel will have to be replaced; the rocker panels are solid but I would replace them just to be safe. The only panel that I would try to salvage would be the roof panel. Although the surface rust is there, I banged on the center of the panel with my fist and it made a ringing noise, deformed slightly but sprang back into shape. The rear vents were cut out and someone tacked in sheet metal to cover the holes. However, the original support structure for the vent windows is there; this can be fixed. Also, water pooled in the weather stripping channels and they rotted out. You will have to spend some time with a shrinker/stretcher + welder to fix. Frame rails have to be replaced due to rust but also where someone has taken small bottle jacks and made several dents along the rails as they lifted/lowered the car. Again, spend some time looking at the pictures on photobucket to get an ideal of the work that will need to be invested into this car. The good: Original glass and complete fold down seat. The rear window has all of the original trim with it; the front has the top piece only. Not a coupe conversion! This would be a good body for a restomod without having to worry about tearing down a previous restoration (which was my intention). As is, where is; will not ship. Buyer will need a trailer or rollback with a winch to load the car when they pick it up. Car is in a barn which is on the down slope of the property so plan accordingly. Bid starts at what I have in it; I may add the option of a “Buy It Now” at a later date but if I will entertain offers to end the auction early. ***I have lowered the reserve by $500 on 5/13/11***On May-14-11 at 06:26:53 PDT, seller added the following information:***Reserve changed to $1401.00 which is $1 above starting bid*** I couldn't get the reserve to go away now that I have a bid on the car.
