This eye catching 1957 German made Volkswagen Beetle has the rare OVAL rear window. The car was a one owner California car until it went into the restoration shop in around 2007. All of the sheet metal and trim are original to this car. The car was taken down to bare metal and repainted in the original black color. I think the photos demonstrate that the paint is in very nice condition and the sun really picks up the luster. All mechanical components have been rebuilt or replaced. The belly pans are original and perfect, the sheet metal and running boards are excellent as well. The motor has been updated to a circa 1970 engine with 12 volt electronics. It is not clear if all the other electrical components have been updated. The engine is very clean and runs smoothly. The interior was also restored and the photos show the quality of the work. The original bumpers are still on the car and have not been touched. While not perfect, they are in remarkably good condition. The odometer currently indicates only about 95000 miles. The car is in running condition but for the last few years has been stored indoors “off the road” in an automotive collection. When you add it all up, this is a clean and nicely restored piece of automotive history.
