Vehicle Detail
FOR SALE: 1976 Fiat 124 Spider This car has 34723 miles and is rust free. The car has been sitting for the last 5 years or so. I rescued it 3 years ago from a Church in Plainfield Illinois. The car had been donated and was not running at the time. All of the fuel lines were replaced, but were routed incorrectly. Once they were installed right the engine started running. I wouldn’t try driving the car a long distance until it has been totally gone through. The tires are old, but do have some tread left on the tires. Local delivery can be arranged. ENGINE: The engine has all the original smog equipment still installed. The engine does run, but occasionally stops while idling, almost like the key was turned off. It does restart. This is happening randomly. I’m still looking into the cause. It definitely will need a tune up and the timing belt replaced. A new belt is included with the sale. The engine is leaking oil as older Fiats do. It looks like the cam housing gasket and valve cover gaskets are at fault. The leaks are not severe. The brakes are in good working order. TRANSMISSION: The 5 speed shifts smoothly with no signs of any problems. INTERIOR: New aftermarket carpet has been installed. The driver’s seat does have a few rips and tears. The passenger seat has a few blemishes, but is not too bad. Black seat covers are currently installed. The back seat is in excellent shape. The dash has no cracks, but does look to be a little warped from the sun. The steering wheel does have one crack at the top of the wheel. The center console is in great shape. The radio console is a little rough and currently has no radio installed. The gauges work correctly. The clock face is cloudy, but working. The lights all work as they should. The horn currently is not working. The wipers work fine. CONVERTIBLE TOP: I believe the convertible top is the original top. Although the top is a little faded, it has no rips or tears. The rear window has no rips or tears, but does have a few rust marks on the plastic. It is also cloudy in some spots. BODY: The body has no rust that I can see anywhere. The floors look factory new. The body had side moldings at one time that were removed. The holes from the trim remain. The rear trunk lid seems to have a slight gap, but does open and close properly. The car will need to be painted in the future. The car has been touched up in many places. There are also areas on the hood and fenders where the paint is cracking. The car looks good from about ten feet away. I tried to show some of these problem areas in the pictures. Also the front and rear Fiat emblems are faded as well and the driver’s side door handle is a little loose. There is also a scratch in the windshield on the driver’s side. It looks like it was caused by a windshield wiper at some point in the past. I have tried to describe everything to the best of my ability. If you have any questions please let me know. The car is for sale locally. So I reserve the right to end the auction early. Below is a link to more pictures of the car. http://s255.photobucket.com/albums/hh147/bg1982x/1976%20Fiat%20124%20Spider/
