1972 Mercedes-Benz W108 280SE 4.5 V8 LAST YEAR! No Reserve!! Few vehicles are as distinctive and unique as the 108 and 109 chassis Mercedes-Benz vehicles. Although there are other vehicles that are instantly recognizeable - the Gullwing Mercedes, the '57 Chevy, and the DeLorean to name a few - there is no other vehicle so classy, yet affordable as a 108 or 109 chassis Mercedes-Benz. These models also made their way into many shows and movies - and still do, even to this day. From Seinfeld ("The Jimmy") to The Simpsons ("The Bart Wants What It Wants"), and every genre in between, the 108 and 109 will live on forever. The 108 and 109 Chassis Mercedes Benz vehicles are the last truly hand-built S-Class Mercedes vehicles (aside from some current AMG models). They were also the last vehicles with the infamous "Mercedes look" - stacked headlamps (on North American versions), curvy hoodlines, and a very large front grille. To this day, many people can still recognize their lines as distinctively Mercedes, even if they were not even born when the model was still in production. 1972 was the last production year of this beautiful and timeless sedan, and this car is one of them! I purchased this Mercedes couple of years ago with the intention to do full restoration, but as the time that I need to devote to this car is a luxury that I do not have at the moment, I need to find her a good home. Before it was parked into the climate controlled storage it was running, but now, as it sat for too long, its original 4.5 Liter fuel injected V8 engine will start on starting fluid, but it will not continue to run. I am pretty sure that with fresh tune-up, fresh gas, and some things here and there it will start up fine, but as I don’t have time to do it, I am selling it as non-runner car! It does roll, steer and brakes with no problems. This Mercedes is a fun project, and it is perfect for somebody who wants to do a full restoration, and have a wonderful show car and the investment, OR for somebody who can fix it up to be their daily driver, and then slowly restore it to its full beauty at their own pace!! It can be also a wonderful parts car, as it is all there and complete, but it would be a shame to see a nice classic like this go to waste. Best thing is, I am selling this car with NO RESERVE, and may the highest bidder win!!! Walkaround: As you can see in the pictures, Blue Paint is showing its age, but if re-sprayed back to its fully glory this car would look amazing. Chrome is nice, and it is all complete. Structurally this Mercedes is in pretty good condition. It was California and Florida car for most of its life. There are some signs of rust on the bottom of the fenders, but rest of the car including floor boards and trunk appears to be very nice and solid, especially for a 39 year old car (please see pictures!!!) Interior is all there and for 39 year old car, it’s in pretty good condition. Original seats are in good condition, but they would need to be reupholstered. Everything is there down to its Kienzle Clock!! It also comes with power windows, and they are working as they should. All in all it’s a very nice and complete car, that can make a very nice and fun project, or an excellent donor car for your existing project!!! There is NO title for this vehicle… It comes with Bill of Sale only! If you need a title, I can obtain one for you for $275.
