Vehicle Detail

Up for auction is a very nice and original 1991 Brougham D'Elegance. No lime green paint, 26" rims, jacked up suspension or other such ghetto ass donk stuff. This is what I'd call a "survivor" car, and a very pretty one at that. Paint is mostly original, and looks fabulous for a 20 year old car. All original chrome and vinyl top as well. Interior is original except for the headliner and aftermarket radio. Same goes for the drivertrain, its all stock and original. 350 TBI Chevy v8. That's throttle body injection, its the exact same motor as a 1991 Chevy truck, and its all stock. When you ordered the 350 TBI you also got the trailer tow package, which included heavy duty cooling, a larger altenator, and a stiffer suspension. This car is rated to tow 5000lbs. With the stiffer suspension it handles a lot better than most land barges. Needless to say the 350 TBI is one of the most reliable motors ever put into a full size Cadillac. This car has every single option you could get for the year, including: CD/Tape player. This was broken and has been replaced by an aftermarket JVC radio Astroroof. Or sunroof in non-Cadillac speak. Please note that the motor is bad, so it doesn't open. I disconnected the switch. It does not leak though. D'Elegance option. This got you those cool button tufted seats, lighted vanity mirrors, and several other options. Leather- of course its a Cadillac Electronic climate control. This car has hot heat and very cold a/c. Climate control works like it should, just set it and forget it. Please note that the HI fan button does not work, but I never bothered to fix this. You can get the fan to blow more air by adjusting the temp up or down, it does a great job of maintaining the correct temp. Wire wheels. These are the very rare, original bolt on wire wheels. They are in nice condition, not 100% perfect, I'd say they are a 1-2 footer, you don't notice anything until you are actually cleaning them. Crests are a little faded, but I couldn't find replacements. Now on to how it runs. I've owned this car for the past 2.5 years, and have put 28k miles on it. Its been the most reliable car I've ever owned. It runs great, shifts flawlessly, steers/handles like a big Cadillac should. I'd feel confident driving this car to California and back, it runs like a Swiss watch. The previous owner put new shocks on this car at 103k, the car rides nice and the shocks look newer, so I believe him. When I got this car at 103k, I replaced the following items: -Fresh coolant -Fresh auto tranny fluid, new filter. Note that this was just a drain and refill, I don't believe in "flushing" your tranny. -New Spark plugs -New plug wires -New distributor cap -New aftermarket CD player, amp, and speakers. I took my subwoofer and I'm putting it in my new car. All of this was professionally installed, no weird electrical problems. -New Khumo tires at 110k, probably have another 15k left on them -New headliner at 120k -New Cadillac crests. This includes the hood ornament, trunk lock, and c-pillar emblems. The original ones were faded, this really dresses up the car IMO. -New silver pin stripe at 110k miles, along with a good buffing by the detail shop. The original gold one had flaked off above the door handles, and didn't match the rest of the car IMO. Since the car did not have the the gold emblem package or yellow/white striped vogue tires. NOTE: -New brakes at 130k. This included new front pads, rotors, and a new front caliper. Rear brakes were fine. All of this to the tune of $380 I have all of the receipts for all of the work done on this car since I've owned it. Now onto the bad/flaws: Rust bubble under the vinyl top on the passenger side d-pillar. See pics. I didn't bother to fix this since the top is otherwise in mint condition. Rust under the trunk lid, its only visible when you open the trunk. Other than that rust bubble on the top, car has no visible rust. This can be ground out and fixed easily. Paint has been redone on the driver's side rear door. I notice it, but most people won't. Its one of those things you'll notice when you wash the car. Paint has been touched up on the top of both rear fenders. I think the original owner had dual cb antennas that stuck out of the top of the rear fenders. Paint is slightly faded on the top of the rear bumper fillers, once again you don't notice it unless you are looking for it. The bumper filler under the rear liscence plate/gas cap is discolored. This filler was originally broken, so I replaced it and repainted it myself. My rattle can paint job hasn't held up. In hindsight, I was supposed to wet sand the color coat before applying the clear coat. The driver's side door lock rod is broken. The power door lock works great for the other 3 doors. So to lock the car, you hit the power lock button, then insert the key into the driver's door and turn. I never fixed this because I am bad about locking my keys in the car. With the broken lock rod, its impossible to lock your keys in this car. You can still unlock all the doors at once by inserting the key, turning it to the left for 3-4 seconds, and all the locks pop up. The power antenna is stuck 1/2 of the way up. Still gets good reception. The automatic parking brake release does not work. The parking brake works perfectly, but the car is supposed to automatically release the parking brake when you shift from Park to Reverse or Drive. So it doesn't automatically release, so you have to push a button under the dash to release it like a normal park brake.
