Vehicle Detail
Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 Up for sale is my cherished 1978 Ford Bronco Ranger XLT. I bought this rugged classic last August, with the hope of fully restoring it to its original splendor, but due to an upcoming job relocation, I am forced to sell it before the project is fully completed (about 75% done now). I purchased it from a guy in California who'd had it sitting in his garage for the past 8 years. Over the past 9 months, I have invested over $11k to begin this Bronco's journey back to glory. This is the top of line Bronco Ranger XLT with the upgraded 400 cu. in. (6.6L) V8 engine, and part time 4WD system with NP205 transfer case and manual locking hubs. Other features of the Ranger XLT (a $700 option in 1978) trim included woodgrain dash and steering wheel panels, carpeted flooring, chrome around headlamps and body side trim. It was equipped from the factory with electric cruise control, power rear window, a/c (needs work), power steering, power brakes, front bucket seats (an upgrade over the standard bench), center console, rear flip/fold bench seat, polished aluminum wheels, tilt steering, and privacy glass for removable top. It is also the Trailer Special edition, which was extremely rare in 1978. With this trim package, a heavy duty towing setup was included, along with recreational (towing) mirrors, heavy duty alternator, rear shocks, sway bars, interior roll bar, amp meter, oil pressure gauge, external oil cooler and the "Trailer Special" emblem on the tail gate. All in all, this is a VERY solid Bronco, which spent the first 32 years of its life in California so there is little to no rust. This is one of the cleanest examples of the first generation large Broncos that you'll ever see. If I didn't have to sell, I'd definitely keep it, but my loss will be someone else's gain. There are 97,200 original miles and the 6.6L V8 runs strong in any climate. This was my vehicle during this past winter and it gets around great, even in the 18 inches of snow that we got on a couple of occasions. Yes, the 4x4 system on this beast is just as capable as any of today's so-called "modern" SUVs and it will give its next owner years of smiles and driving pleasure. The 33x12.5x15 tires are new (less than 3k miles on them) and look as great as they perform! Since purchasing this classic SUV in August, some of the upgrades and additions that I've added are below: (all parts are new unless noted) APPEARANCE: * H4 Square headlight conversion (2/2011) * "Bronco" rear tire cover - 33" (1/2011) * Hella 500 driving lights (12/2010) * Pacer 330C chrome 15x8 spare wheel (11/2010) * Lower door panel - matching red carpet inserts (10/2010) * OEM replacement door panel, driver and passenger (9/2010) * Low-back, vinyl seat covers (9/2010) * Bronco Ranger XLT steering wheel with wood look and cruise control - used (9/2010) AUDIO: (completed October 2010) * Kenwood KDC-BT645U satellite radio-ready in-dash CD player with bluetooth and remote * Polk PA660 4-channel amplifier * Polk DXI690 6"x9" 3-way speakers - pair * Polk DB651s 6.5" slim mount speakers - pair * Single 6x9 enclosures (x2) * Professional installation and 2 year warranty on parts/labor COMFORT/CONVENIENCE: * 2-speed wiper switch and motor (3/2011) * Driver's door window sweep weatherstrip (3/2011) * Power steering hose (2/2011) * "Bully" side steps (1/2011) * Heater core (12/2010) * Thermostat (11/2010) * Dash re-wire and horn installation (9/2010) * Inside right/left door handles (9/2010) * RubberTite cargo liner (9/2010) * Wiper helper springs (9/2010) * Glovebox liner (9/2010) * 12" rearview mirror (9/2010) PERFORMANCE: * Fuel Filter (4/2011) * Timing cover and gasket (4/2011) * Engine oil pan and gasket (4/2011) * Valve cover and gasket (3/2011) * BF Goodrich All Terrain T/A KO tires (set of 5) - 33x12.5x15 (11/2010) * 33 gallon fuel tank (10/2010) * Ignition control module (9/2010) * Battery cables (9/2010) * Carburetor complete rebuild - 2bl (10/2010) * K&N air filter (9/2010) * Master brake cylinder (8/2010) * Fuel system tune up (8/2010) * Brake system flush (8/2010) * Differential service (8/2010) * Transfer case service (8/2010) * Repack bearings (8/2010) * Transmission service / fluid flush (8/2010) * Power steering gear (8/2010) * Power steering pump (8/2010) * Bushings (8/2010) * Lifetime alignment (8/2010) * Steering column coupler (8/2010) I have receipts for every purchase that I made and all service records since the Bronco has been in my possession. There are just a few things still left to do to make this Bronco a show-stopper! :-) The a/c system isn't currently working. The heater works and the a/c blower works, but it's not currently blowing cold. The rear interior panels (in the cargo area) are worn and will need to be replaced in order to make this show-worthy. In addition, the paint is in fair shape, overall, with very little rust, but in order to really make this Bronco stand out, it'll need a fresh coat of paint. My plan was to paint it this summer, but I didn't have an opportunity to do so. All in all, this Bronco is very solid and I tried to do a good job of capturing enough photos of the outside and inside, as well as under the hood, so you can see exactly how solid this truck is. The Bronco passed Missouri's safety inspection in October and with title in hand, it's ready to go! Any questions, please ask and I will respond promptly.... Considering all of the money that has been invested, this is a steal! You won't be disappointed with this one.... Good luck and happy bidding! BIDDING / PAYMENT: Serious bidders/inquiries only.
