Vehicle Detail
I am selling my 450sl. Moving and no longer can take care of my girl. I have traveled the southeast in this car and will miss her terribly. She is not perfect but she is restorable. I will be adding more photos soon. I have installed a new water pump, replaced the radiator, new fuel pump and fuel filter. New plugs and plug wires (last year) Oil change and oil filter are fresh. Rear brakes redone. She starts each and every time in cold and hot weather. In colder weather she needs to warm up a little for tranny to shift smoothly. Once warm she shifts good. Drivers seat is worn, center shifter console is pealing, dash has cracks. This car has some rust in a couple of spots. I had a machanic put new valve cover gaskets on last month. On the drivers side he hit something re-installing the valve cover. It started a ticking noise that got worse so I stopped driving it and had it inspected. I have two new camshafts for right and left- not installed but come with car. I have an extra drivers seat that is almost perfect though it is black and does not match the interior of this car. I have an extra instrument cluster, climate control panel and other odds and ends parts that come with the car. I have the hard top. The canvas on the soft top is pretty new though a frame bolt snapped and I have not had that repaired yet. The top does not leak though it could rubber seals around top, trunk and doors. I do have an extra top frame which has canvas attached but that canvas has the back two side windows coming lose. Hard top is stored in garage. The engine starts but due to the damage the mechnic did to the camshaft I am not driving it. Once the drivers side cam is replaced with the included new cam shaft it should be drivable. I was told by another mechanic that it may need the camshaft bearings as well and I have not ordered those. I found a new set here on Ebay for $209.00. I have really enjoyed this car but am downsizing my life. I no longer have a garage to park the car in. The AC compressor locked up so I removed the belt. The timing chain looks good- we inspected it when we were checking the camshaft that was ticking. Any questions ask.
