I purchased this car in 1999 for the purpose of having a car that was fun to drive, sounded great and safe. The car was painted in 2001 so it could use a little touch-up, but it is very straight. The upholstery was re-done in 2000, but it also could use some work. Now to the good stuff! Two months after I purchased the car, I took it into one of the best motor/drivetrain companies in America. The 396 was tossed out and a brand new crated 502 block was purchased. It was build from scratch using very high end parts, taking 6 months and over $12,000 (remember 1999 dollars). I also had a new 4L80E transmission installed with an electronic transmission controller at a cost of $8,900. This car is mechanically sound, reliable, easy and fun to drive and is ready to 'get up and boogie' when you want it to. Over the years, I added some small items like; a new Aluminum Radiator with electric fan; new Transmission Shifter Assembly; New Currie Rear End and other stuff which was all professional installed by the same company. I have all the receipts for the work done along with a professional appraisal of $24,500 dated July 1999 which at that time was rated 'near flawless'. All of this paper work is available upon request.
